‘Houdini Horse’ Mariska – ‘The Great Opener’

“The Great Opener” – Azure Dragon of Spring

MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) - With her escape-artist antics now caught on video, a horse in Michigan is being dubbed the "Houdini Horse" thanks to her knack for opening stall doors. The 9-year-old horse named Mariska somehow learned to open latches at Misty Meadow Farms, Larkin Township near Midland in central Michigan. The farm's co-owner, Sandy Bonem, posted a video online of the horse opening numerous locks. It catches how Mariska lets herself out, then unlocking stalls for other horses - just not her mother's.

Mundane astrology recognizes that the strongest effect of an eclipse is felt in those places where it is angular i.e. rising, setting or culminating. The total solar eclipse of  13th November 2012 was exactly setting at Larkin Township, Michigan. (chart below). The IC of this chart (29cn02)  as also the Ascendant (29cn47)of the First Quarter Moon (Feb 17) is conjunct the star alpha Monoceros (29cn14)

“Monoceros, the Unicorn, is of a species not common to earth--one magical and mystical. Alpha Monoceros brings fortuitous situations, experiences or involvements quite out of the ordinary, which often appear unexpectedly. The spiral of the Unicorn's horn embodies its magic”.[1]

If we progress the eclipse chart to Feb. 19, 2013, the date of the news item, we can see  Mercury (0sa09) on the IC (2sa51) both square Neptune (0pi22). While we connect tropical Sagittarius with horses a startling revelation unfolds  when we look at ancient Chinese asterisms for this area:

“The head and heart of our Scorpion was Fang, The House (of the Sun), its rising announcing the Spring Equinox. This asterism was the stomach of the Great Azure Dragon of Spring made up of  beta, delta, pi and rho Scorpii (3sg23, 2sa47, 3sa07, 3sg19); the ecliptic passed close to beta (Graffias), so it was also called  “The Great Opener” – the opened door to let in the spring. There were many other names for this asterism: “Celestial Stable” – because livestock could be let out into the fields after being locked up during the winter; T’ien Ma,  Celestial Horses etc”.[2]

So perhaps Mariska was reminding us humans how unconnected we are to nature’s cycles. It was spring and she and her mates needed to be let out!
