US tornadoes and “The Great Storm Bird”

The Great Storm Bird and the Sun God

The April 27–29, 2014 tornado outbreak is an ongoing large and deadly severe weather event that has produced multiple long-track tornadoes and over a dozen fatalities. It is the first major US tornado outbreak of 2014. Numerous tornadoes ripped across parts of Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. A large, violent tornado struck Mayflower and Vilonia, Arkansas, causing severe damage and causing at least 12 deaths.

For the purpose of this post we will confine our attention to the most violent tornado that struck Mayflower, Arkansas. A basic rule of Astro-Meteorology requires one to look at the last cardinal ingress of the Sun. Shown here is the chart for the Sun’s entry into sidereal Aries on April 15.  Notice the powerful Grand Cross on the angles. The Ascendant [14li08] is conjunct the stars of Corvus, the Raven.

These stars were part of an archaic Chaldean lunar mansion whose patron god was Im-dugud-khu, “The Great Storm Bird” o…

Taurus eclipse raises male fertility concerns

Bull (Auroch) in Hall of the Bulls, Lascaux

Prescriptions for testosterone drugs have shot up around the world over the last decade. But there is growing concern that they are being over-used and may not be safe. There comes a point in many a man's life when he starts to feel a bit played-out. Tired. Grumpy. Apathetic. In the US, sports and news channels are replete with ads featuring handsome men with grey hair at their temples, too tired to play basketball and feeling irritable even when they're on a romantic date with a beautiful woman. BBC; April 27.

The bull was a potent symbol of power, strength, and fertility to the peoples of the ancient world. This symbolism was manifested in several iconographic motifs. These motifs reveal the bull as a manifestation of divine characteristics and as an expression of the power of man. The sign Taurus shown as a bull represents the same qualities in the zodiac. It is, therefore, not surprising that the news item on male testosterone appe…

Eclipse exposes the dark side of Silicon Valley

It had promised to be an explosive trial, exposing a dark side of Silicon Valley. But on April 24th a settlement was reached between 64,400 tech workers and Google, Apple, Intel and Adobe Systems, which stand accused of conspiring between 2005 and 2009 to restrict the pay of their staff by, among other things, agreeing not to poach rivals' workers http://econ.st/1kaabKx

On April 13 – 14, Juno reached a conjunction with Eris while opposing Vesta. Since  Vesta relates to work and work related issues while Juno rules questions of rights and fairness in partnerships  this would  refer to discordance or  differences (Eris) surrounding financial matters and business relations.

The April 15 Total Lunar Eclipse occurred just into sidereal Libra conjoining  Vesta opposite the Sun-Juno-Eris conjunction. Shown above is the chart for the eclipse at Silicon Valley. Notice its  powerful placement on the meridian axis.  The Vesta-Moon conjunction took place between Mars and the North Lunar Node, c…

Khumba – the zonkey – illustrates the principle of reconciliation

REYNOSA, Mexico, April 25 (UPI) -- A rare but adorable cross-breed was introduced to the world this week at a zoo in Reynosa, Mexico. Khumba is the lovechild of Rayas, a female zebra, and Ignacio, a blue-eyed albino donkey. That makes Khumba a zonkey, one of only a few in the world.
The ingress of the Sun into the four cardinal signs are important events in mundane astrology. Shown above is the current sidereal Aries ingress of the Sun at Reynosa. Notice the powerful Uranus-Pluto-Jupiter-Mars Grand Cross on the angles.

Uranus-Pluto refers to transformations at a core level and this includes  surprising (Uranus) mutations (Pluto) within the genetic structure and coding of many forms of life within Nature.
About Mars in Libra, the fastest moving member of the Grand Cross, Jeff Jawer writes:
Step out of polarization to serve a higher cause. When you find yourself taking sides, making a judgment or a choice against anyone or anything, step back and imagine a third point outside the struggle.…

“Sharing economy” is the way forward

IT IS not hard to find evidence of the success of the “sharing economy”, in which people rent beds, cars and other underused assets directly from each other, co-ordinated via the internet. One pointer is the burgeoning of demand and supply. Airbnb, founded in San Francisco in 2008, claims that 11m people have used its website to find a place to stay. The Economist; April 26 http://econ.st/1mFXJ7V

Shown here is the chart for the Waning Crescent Moon phase at San Francisco,CA. Notice that the Cardinal Grand Cross straddles the horizon axis while the crescent Moon along with the star Markab, alpha Pegasus is on the MC.
Uranus and Pluto – the two slowest planets in the Grand Cross – define the process that is unfolding. Institutions (Capricorn) are breaking down (Pluto). Uranus in Aries is about a revolution in consciousness that frees the beliefs and behaviors that structure our lives from slavery to these crumbling institutions.
Here we find the courageous action of individuals (Uranus in…

Discovery of “rogue” DNA at Crescent Moon

There's a civil war going on inside every one of the 37 trillion cells in your body. Now, University of Michigan scientists have uncovered how your cells keep this war from causing too much collateral damage. On one side of the battle: your "regular" DNA, which provides the day-to-day instructions for life. On the other side: tiny bits of rogue DNA that hide like spies between genes in your own DNA. From time to time, these rogue bits of DNA spin off a copy of themselves and "jump" to another DNA location – often causing harmful mutations when they land. How our cells fight off the effects of these rogue DNAs, called LINE-1 retrotransposons, has remained a mystery. But in a new paper published in the open-access journal eLife, scientists from the University of Michigan Medical School and Howard Hughes Medical Institute and colleagues have captured the action like battlefield reporters.[1]
The news is about the battle between “our regular DNA” and tiny bits of so …

John Paul II crucifix crushes man in Italy

A 21-year old man has died after being crushed by a crucifix erected in honour of Pope John Paul II in northern Italy. Marco Gusmini was killed instantly and one other man taken to hospital, Italian media reported. Part of the 30m-high (100ft) sculpture collapsed at a ceremony ahead of the Pope's canonisation. John Paul II and his predecessor, Pope John XXIII, are due to be declared saints on Sunday. The installation, near the town of Cevo, was designed as a large curved cross with a statue of Jesus Christ, weighing 600kg (1,320lb), fixed to the top. BBC April 24

Mundane astrology is the most ancient branch of astrology. The affairs of a nation can be judged in several ways. Among these, cardinal ingresses of  the Sun have a traditional reputation as  very important mundane events.  The angles of the ingress progressed on a daily basis can indicate events when they touch important planets or planetary configurations in the ingress chart. Shown here is the sidereal Aries ingress of …

Grand Cross and the Hamas – Fatah reconciliation deal

Rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas have announced a reconciliation deal, saying they will try to form a unity government in the coming weeks. Hamas and Fatah split violently in 2007. Previous reconciliation agreements have never been implemented.

Shown here is the chart for the Last Quarter Moon phase of April 22 at Gaza. Notice that the current cardinal Grand Cross straddles the horizon axis. Under the influence of this powerful  Grand Cross paradigm shifts are occurring. Old hurts are being put aside as Mars in diplomatic Libra square Jupiter in Cancer is bringing about a reconciliation to “family” disputes.

The Wyoming fire and the cardinal Grand Cross

A small town in western Wyoming was evacuated after an explosion and fire at a nearby gas-processing plant. The town of Opal's approximately 100 residents were evacuated as a precaution, said Lincoln County, Wyo., spokesman Stephen Malik. "There's still no reports of injuries," he said. "The town of Opal is evacuated as a precaution."The blast rocked Opal around 2 p.m. Mountain Time. As of 5 p.m. firefighters believed they had the fire under control, Malik said. USA Today, April 23

This news can serve as an example of the effect of the powerful Grand Cross involving Mars-Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto that was exact on April 23 with all the planets in the Cross at 13 degrees of Cardinal signs. While the Grand Cross generally affects all of us on earth, it is more specific for a  place like Opal,Wyoming since it fell on the horizon axis at the Last Quarter Moon of April 22.  Shown here is the draconic chart for the Last Quarter Moon at Opal. Notice that  draconic Uranu…

Indian Elections: Opening the Gates of Change

The main thing to understand here is that astrology is not concretely predictive, but archetypally predictive. That is, the birth chart and transits indicate which universal principles are emphasized, in what combination, and when. Richard Tarnas

With the above mentioned quote in mind let us look at the major progressions and transits in India’s chart.  There are two charts commonly used by astrologers (a)  Independence Aug 15, 1947; 0 00 hrs, Delhi(b)Republic chart 26 Jan 1950; 10: 15 am, Delhi.  The Republic chart was analyzed in a previous post [1]. Here we look at Independence chart from which we arrive at similar conclusions.

The most important directions in the Independence chart are (a) solar arc Sun [26li] in a forming square to radix Moon [27cn] (b) solar arc Uranus square [0vi] forming a square to radix Ascendant [0ge]
In a mundane chart the Ascendant and the Moon represent the public in general. A solar arc Uranus square the Ascendant means that the public is restless and ma…

Astrology of the Korea ferry disaster

South Korean president Park Geun-Hye says the behaviour of the captain and crew of the Sewol ferry that capsized with 476 people on board  (many children from a school) was unacceptable and "tantamount to murder". Ms Park added that it was increasingly clear that the captain had unnecessarily delayed the evacuation of passengers as the ferry started sinking, and then "deserted them" by escaping first. The captain was arrested on Saturday along with a helmsman and the ship's relatively inexperienced third officer, who was in charge of the bridge when the ship first ran into trouble.

A well timed mundane national chart is always the best starting point for a major event. Shown here is  South Korea’s national chart. Currently the secondary progressed MC [16ar22] is opposite Mars [17li10] in the 5th house. Mars is conjunct Neptune [10li58]. The mundane 5th house rules children  as well as schools [1] while Mars/Neptune is an accident [Mars] at sea [Neptune]. Opposite…

Avalanche on Mt.Everest and quake in Mexico

A morning avalanche near a base camp on the world's highest peak on Friday, April 18,  has left at least 12 Nepalese guides dead and left several others missing in what has become one of the deadliest accidents in Mount Everest's history. A powerful earthquake struck Mexico on Friday, shaking buildings in the capital and sending people running out into the street, although there were no early reports of major damage. The earthquake with magnitude 7.5 occurred near Tecpan, Guerrero, Mexico at 14:27:29.40 UTC on Apr 18, 2014 .

Two major astrological events occurred on April 14th  within just two minutes of each other just a few days before the two events reported above.

April 14, 2014 23:45:08 UT – Sun enters sidereal Aries 23:47:26 UT - Pluto stations retrograde (13 cp 34'49")

A chart drawn for the Aries Ingress of the Sun (or the Pluto station) at Mt.Everest and at Tecpan de Galean, Mexico share a common feature – the Cardinal Grand Cross is on the angles. Notice that the …

Uranus-Pluto Grand Cross and discovery of Exoplanet Kepler-186f

Kepler-186f is an exoplanet orbiting the red dwarf Kepler-186, 500 light-years from the Earth. It is the first planet with a radius similar to Earth's to be discovered in the habitable zone of another star. NASA's Kepler spacecraft detected it using the transit method, along with four additional planets orbiting much closer to the star (all modestly larger than Earth). Analysis of three years of data was required to find its signal. The results were presented initially at a conference on 19 March 2014 and some details were reported in the media at the time. The full public announcement was on 17 April, 2014. http://1.usa.gov/QsOfBr

Shown here is the chart for the sidereal Capricorn Ingress for  NASA headquarters in Washington. Notice the Uranus-Pluto Grand Cross with Mars, Moon and Jupiter.

On the Ascendant are stars on the billowing sails of the great ship Argo  and the wings of the Virgin and the Raven so that Diana Rosenberg associates this area with explorations and discoveri…

Iranian mother teaches forgiveness – the new form of justice

Balal was standing on a chair, blindfolded and with a noose around his neck, when the mother of the man he stabbed to death seven years ago approached him, the Guardian reports. According to some interpretations of Sharia law, the victim’s family participates in the punishment by pushing the chair from under the condemned man. But this time, the mother of the victim slapped Balal across the face and then helped the victim’s father remove the noose. Photographer Arash Khamooshi captured the unexpected moment on April 15 in the northern Iranian city of Nowshahr.

The total Lunar Eclipse of April 15 occurring on the same day as the event in the news obviously had a lot to do with it as we shall soon see. That the eclipse was prominent for the place can be seen from chart below. Notice the following:(a) the eclipse axis is sharply square the horizon axis (b) the current cardinal Grand Cross straddles the meridian axis. (c) Venus [10pi12] exactly sesquisquares the Ascendant [25cn11].

Gabriel García Márquez : An astro-obituary

Gabriel José de la Concordia García Márquez (American Spanish: (6 March 1927 – 17 April 2014) was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter and journalist, known affectionately as Gabo throughout Latin America.
García Márquez started as a journalist, and wrote many acclaimed non-fiction works and short stories, but is best known for his novels, such as One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967), Autumn of the Patriarch (1975) and Love in the Time of Cholera (1985). His works have achieved significant critical acclaim and widespread commercial success, most notably for popularizing a literary style labeled as magic realism, which uses magical elements and events in otherwise ordinary and realistic situations. Some of his works are set in a fictional village called Macondo (the town mainly inspired by his birthplace Aracataca), and most of them explore the theme of solitude.
Márquez had his radix Sun [15pi] conjunct Achernar – a great first magnitude star in the far southern sky, m…
