Neptune Return and the Identity Crisis for the Republican Party

Only a year ago, Republicans were congratulating themselves on having the strongest field of presidential candidates in a generation — diverse, highly credentialed conservatives who might be the salvation of a party that had lost the popular vote in five of the past six elections. But now, the question is how close the Grand Old Party will come to annihilating itself and what it stands for. Donald Trump — dismissed by GOP elders for months as an entertaining fringe figure who would self-destruct — has staged a hostile takeover and rebranded the party in his own image. What is being left by the wayside is any sense of a Republican vision for the country or a set of shared principles that could carry the party forward.

A new horoscope for the  Republican Party  based on data provided in reference [1] is shown here. The most significant thing happening in this chart is a Neptune return to the radix Sun-Neptune conjunction in Pisces.
Neptune represents the ocean of c…

Weasel causes outage of Large Hadron Collider

One of the physics world’s most complex machines, the Large Hadron Collider, has been temporarily immobilised – by a weasel.  Little remains of the unfortunate creature, who did not survive an encounter with a high-voltage transformer at the site near Geneva in Switzerland. Spokesman Arnaud Marsollier said the world's largest atom smasher, the LHC, has suspended operations because the animal invaded a transformer that helps power the machine and set off an electrical outage on Thursday night. April 29
The first beam was circulated through the collider on the morning of 10 September 2008  at 10:28 local time and this becomes the basis for its horoscope. The following extract from a previous post [1] on the LHC is reproduced below since it shows how meaningful the chart is:
We notice from the chart that Mercury-Mars were conjunct and rising at 15li along with Venus (13li10) and TNP Zeus (…

Just 6% Americans trust the media

The Virgin and the Crow

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Trust in the news media is being eroded by perceptions of inaccuracy and bias, fueled in part by Americans' skepticism about what they read on social media.Just 6 percent of people say they have a lot of confidence in the media, putting the news industry about equal to Congress and well below the public's view of other institutions. In this presidential campaign year, Democrats were more likely to trust the news media than Republicans or independents.

The Sun crossed the equator on March 20, 2016 at 12:31 am EDT, marking the beginning of the Spring Season.  Some  astrologers  use the Aries Ingress as the chart for the year as it officially begins the growing season. Cast for Washington, D.C, the Aries chart is quite powerful with a Saturn-Jupiter-Neptune T-square straddling the meridian.
In his essay Saturn in Sagittarius: Finding Our Authenticity and the Transparency of the Soul,  Gahl Eden Sasson writes:

Crowds protest Trump’s stand on immigration

Scores of protesters took to the streets Thursday night ( April 28; 8:32 pm)outside a Donald Trump campaign event in Costa Mesa, California, drawing out police officers in riot and tactical gear and on horseback who sought to disperse the crowd. The crowd, which originally gathered outside the OC Fair & Event Center, poured into the streets following the rally. Protesters blocked a main intersection and were impeding traffic, and the Orange County Sheriff's Office worked to disperse the crowd, Lt. Mark Stichter said. Stichter was unable to provide an official estimate on the number of protesters, but demonstrators could be seen filling the intersection of Fairview Road and Fair Drive. Stichter also said he wasn't aware of any injuries, but several scuffles broke out between Trump supporters who were leaving the rally and people in the streets who accused them of being racist. One Trump supporter was visibly bloodied after being punched in the face.…

Pluto's 'Little Sister' Makemake Has a Moon

Astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope have found a tiny, dark moon circling the dwarf planet Makemake, a Pluto sibling in the solar system’s distant Kuiper Belt.It is the first satellite to be discovered circling Makemake, an 870-mile wide dwarf planet discovered in 2005.Makemake, which is named for a creation deity of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island, is the second brightest object in the Kuiper Belt after Pluto. The dwarf planet’s newly found moon, spotted in an April Hubble Wide Field Camera 3 image, is more than 1,300 fainter than Makemake, NASA said in a press release issued Tuesday,(April 26) the same day the discovery was announced in a Minor Planet Electronic Circular.
Very little is known about Makemake. Nick Fiorenza gives the following delineation of the dwarf planet:
Makemake (pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh - “e” is pronounced “ay” in Polynesian) is the Polynesian name for the creator…

Europe’s Energy Wars: Tankers Against Pipelines

Today Russia’s pipeline gas supplies to Europe face no competition, but the situation may change soon with the US, Qatar and Australia exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Old Continent. The shale gas extraction has significantly grown in the United States. This fact has been hyped in the media. A tanker carrying liquefied natural gas from Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass export facility in Louisiana is en route to Portugal. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that the event marks the first shipment in a trade relationship that could shake up the European market currently dominated by Russia. The ship is estimated to arrive at the Port of Sines in Portugal on April 26.

In mundane astrology an event can have more than one planetary indicator. Most often these indicators will bring the same configuration to the angles as we shall see here. The first chart is the Waning Gibbous…

Donald Trump’s Historic Speech on His New Foreign Policy

Unfortunately, after the Cold War our foreign policy veered badly off course. We failed to develop a new vision for a new time. In fact, as time went on, our foreign policy began to make less and less sense. Logic was replaced with foolishness and arrogance, which led to one foreign policy disaster after another. They just kept coming and coming. We went from mistakes in Iraq to Egypt to Libya, to President Obama’s line in the sand in Syria. Each of these actions have helped to throw the region into chaos and gave ISIS the space it needs to grow and prosper. Very bad. It all began with a dangerous idea that we could make western democracies out of countries that had no experience or interests in becoming a western democracy. Our foreign policy is a complete and total disaster. No vision. No purpose. No direction. No strategy.

This is the most important speech an American politician has made. What Donald Trump essentially admits is that the hegemonic foreign policy of…

Saudi Arabia’s $2 Trillion Gamble for Reform

Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, 30, the deputy crown prince of Saudi Arabia laid out his vision for Saudi Arabia on Monday in a plan called “Vision 2030.” He wants to get Saudi Arabia off its oil dependence in only 4 years, by 2020, and wants to diversify the economy into manufacturing and mining.

The following extract from a previous post [1] is relevant to our discussion.
Astro-Databank gives the chart of Saudi Arabia  which is reproduced here. Notice the potentially violent T-square in the chart. Some keyphrases for the T-square are as under: Saturn-Uranus-Pluto-Mars:  Autocratic leadership leads to a rebellion; brutal efforts to start a new order; challenges leading to a fight; toppled from position. With Uranus returning to its own place after 84 years, the T-square is primed for a violent release. The House of Saud is likely to go through a severe crisis. Will it reform and regenerate or will it die? No …

Full Moon brings closure to the Hillsborough disaster

The Hillsborough disaster was a human crush that caused the deaths of 96 people and injured 766 others at a football match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, England, on 15 April 1989. The interim report in the 1989–90 official inquiry into the disaster by Lord Taylor concluded that "the main reason for the disaster was the failure of police control." A new inquest which, on 26 April 2016, returned a verdict that the supporters were unlawfully killed due to deficiencies in policing and ambulance response on the day, as well as the stadium's design, and reiterated that supporters were not to blame for the deaths.

According to reports, the crush happened at around 3:00 pm at Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, England, on 15 April 1989. Shown here is the chart for the event.  On the meridian axis we have the TNP Admetus opposite Pluto and TNP Cupido. Martha Wescott provides the followi…

Big Ben 'bongs' to be silenced for refurbishment

Horologium Oscillatorium
the Pendulum Clock

Britain's most famous clock tower is to fall silent so that urgent repair work can be carried out at a cost of £29m. Parliament says it has no choice but to stop the chimes of Big Ben, after 157 years of nearly unbroken service, to prevent its mechanism from failing. The Elizabeth Tower, which houses it, will also be repaired during the three year project, which starts next year.

Eclipses effect events  long after they have occurred. A chart for the last lunar eclipse of March 23 at London will help explain the news about Big Ben. Notice that the eclipse axis aligns perfectly with the meridian.  On the MC with Sun and Mercury are the stars zeta [2ar40] and eta [4ar50] Horologium.
The constellation, Horologium Oscillatorium, was added by La Caille in 1752 to honor Christiaan Huygens who invented the first pendulum clock in 1656, based on the pendulum introduced by Galileo Galilei. Horologium is fro…

History in the Stars – the Armenian Genocide

The Sword of Orion

The Armenian Genocide also known as the Armenian Holocaust, the Armenian Massacres and, traditionally by Armenians, as Medz Yeghern (Armenian: ՄեծԵղեռն, "Great Crime"), was the Ottoman government's systematic extermination of its minority Armenian subjects inside their historic homeland, which lies within the present-day Republic of Turkey. The number of victims is estimated at between 800,000 and 1.5 million. The starting date is conventionally held to be 24 April 1915, the day Ottoman authorities rounded up, arrested, and deported some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders from Constantinople to Ankara, the majority of whom were eventually murdered.
Major events in history like this one are rarely without an astrological signature. On Feb 27, 1915 Saturn-Pluto began a new synod with three geocentric conjunctions between October 4, 1914 through May 19, 1915.
Pluto embodies the primordial forces o…

Hybrid War Hyenas Are Tearing Brazil Apart

The gloomy and repulsive night when the female president of the 7th largest economy in the world was the prey of choice fed to a lynch mob of hyenas in a drab, provincial Circus Maximus will forever live in infamy. By 367 votes for and 137 against, the impeachment/coup/regime change-light drive against Dilma Rousseff cleared the Brazilian Congressional circus and will now go to the Senate, where a “special commission” will be set up. If approved, Rousseff will then be sidelined for 180 days and a low-rent tropical Brutus, Vice-President Michel Temer, will ascend to power until the Senate’s final verdict.

"Brazil proclaimed its independence from Portugal [...] on 7 September 1822. The event ... took place between 4:00 and 5:00 P.M. LMT ..." Campion, "The Book of World Horoscopes," (Second Edition, 1996), p. 99. There is a strong movement among Brazilian astrologers in favor of a 4:47 P…

US suicide rate surges

Cetus about to devour Andromeda

The suicide rate in the US has surged to its highest level in almost three decades, according to a new report. The increase is particularly pronounced among middle-age white people who now account for a third of all US suicides. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report did not offer an explanation for the steep rise. However, other experts have pointed to increased abuse of prescription opiates and the financial downturn that began in 2008 as likely factors.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report  was published on April 22 by the National Center for Health Statistics at Hyattsville, MD. We begin by looking at the chart for the last solar eclipse of March 8 drawn for Hyattsville. With the eclipse on the cusp of the 6th house we know immediately that it has something to say about “public health” [1].  The eclipse is in Pisces – a sign linked to “an era of storms and who…

Nature’s Wrath: Angry Beaver Savages Latvian Man

A man in Latvia was taken hostage by an angry beaver during a late night stroll. The incident occurred during the early hours of April 14 in the Latvian city of Daugavpils, as a man named Sergei returning home after partying with his friends was suddenly beset by a very aggressive beaver.

This strange incident occurred on the very day of the First Quarter Moon of April 14. A chart for the Moon phase at  Daugavpils is shown here. Notice that the luminaries are setting off the Uranus-Pluto square which aligns with the meridian.
Pluto is the raw, unmitigated energy that pulses vitality into the veins of every living thing. It manifests as the need for survival and the will to power. When configured with Uranus, there can be events when there is a sudden release of this energy.  With the Sun and Uranus in the 12th house, the angry release of the energy by a wild animal is perfectly understandable [1].

US losing out to Russian wheat exports

The United States was once the world's leading wheat exporter, but now is losing its position to Russia and Canada due a stronger dollar, stagnant yields, rising competition and climate change. According to analysts, exports of wheat may drop 9.3 percent to 21.1 million metric tons in the season ending May 31, the lowest since 1972.  “We’re no longer going to lead in volume every year,” said Alan Tracy, president of US Wheat Associates told Bloomberg, adding that an increase in global wheat trade was the only hope for the country. April 22
As  readers are aware we are going through a long term Jupiter-Saturn-Neptune T-square  in 2015-16. Neptune, the slowest moving  and therefore the defining planet in the T, is in Pisces. Pisces is an era of storms and of wholesale disintegration. Those, individuals or nations, who refuse a confrontation with their past and stubbornly resist change are not likely to survive. This is the esse…

Why so many celebrities have died in 2016

"When beggars die there are no comets seen; The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes."
Julius Caesar (II, ii, 30-31)

We are only four months in, but it's already been a dark, dark 2016. It now seems rare for a week to pass without a significant celebrity death being reported - from David Bowie in the second week of January, to actor Alan Rickman a week later, to comedian Victoria Wood and Prince this week. "Enough, 2016" and a more vulgar alternative are phrases people are uttering more and more regularly. So is this wave of celebrity deaths the new normal? The answer is yes, according to the BBC's obituary editor Nick Serpell, who ought to know about such things. He says the number of significant deaths this year has been "phenomenal".

Not that everything important happens during Solar and Lunar eclipses, but many major events in our lives do. Numerous important people have died durin…
