November eclipse grounds F-35 fighter jets

The US has grounded its entire fleet of 51 F-35 fighter jets after the discovery of a cracked engine blade. The fault was detected during a routine inspection of an air force version of the jet (F-35A) at Edwards Air Force Base in California, said the Pentagon. Different versions are flown by the navy and the marine corps. All have been grounded. The F-35 is the Pentagon's most expensive weapons programme with a cost of nearly $400bn (£260bn). The Pentagon said flight operations would remain suspended until the root cause is established. Friday's order was the second time in two months planes from the F-35 range have been grounded.

A yod is a rare astrological aspect involving any celestial body of astrological importance and forms between three (or more) plants or points where two planets are sextile (60° aspect) in relation to each other, with both quincunx (150° aspect) in relation to a third.

Astrologers (for instance Wendy Stacey, 3) say that, when a Yod appears in a chart, the individual is fated or destined to develop the energies of the apex planet, as a result of the interaction of the other two planets. And yet the Yod also carries the idea of difficulty, frustration and stress. The apex planet and the base planets, even though they are compelled to work together, are out of harmony with each other: they cannot understand each other, cannot even “see” each other. Hence, the person with a Yod in his chart will find himself dealing with the effects of the base planets, and yet will be continually drawn (maybe against her will) towards the apex planet. He will feel that God is pointing him towards the apex planet, although he cannot understand how or why. If, on the other hand, he consciously tries to develop the apex planet, he will experience the base planets as a source of stress and frustration.

A Yod ,therefore, a special challenge to constructively alter and bring into clearer focus that which impairs the total functioning of the individual. A Yod that is activated is very much like arriving at a fork in the road and having to take one or another path.

Shown above is chart for the November 28, 2012 lunar eclipse at Washington.  The eclipse which forms a Yod  is powerfully placed  with two its legs on the Ascendant and MC.  This was discussed in an earlier post Astrology of the 'fiscal cliff' . 

With increasing concerns about the cost of the F-35 program one way that the Yod might manifest is  the budget deficit derails the program.

The Ascendant is conjunct  Nunki, Sigma (σ) Sagittarius. Nunki (12cp33)  is the  powerful left shoulder of the Archer’s bow bracing arm, his eye (Ain al Rami) takes aim with full confidence of hitting any target.  4 Aquilae (12cp33) a star in the constellation  of the Eagle associated with the military in general but more specifically with the air force combines with Nunki of the Archer to produce a perfect symbol for a military aircraft.

Progressing the eclipse chart to Friday, Feb 22, 2013, when the Pentagon issued the order for grounding brings the Full Moon eclipse to the horizon axis - a well known method in mundane astrology for finding out when an eclipse can be expected to deliver its effect.

The stars on the Ascendant are: Aldebaran, alpha Taurus 9ge57,  Mu Persei, 10ge58;  Pi Orionis 12ge05 (Orion’s lion skin); Epsilon Leporis 12ge13; Omicron Columbae 13ge32 Doves South wing.

The children of the Bull run ahead of the herd and may suffer for it. Orion’s military instincts and Perseus’ yearning to be a hero combine to produce a warrior mentality. Columba, the dove, and the NNode of Uranus supply an interest in flight.  Lepus, the Hare was associated with speed; in combination with Orion and Perseus, these stars have produced aircraft designers, aviators, test pilots, astronauts, engineers and inventors. Influencing this area is the very bright star Rigel of Orion.

After the first world war, at the time of the first transatlantic flights, Elsbeth Ebertin noted a connection of Rigel to the Sun and Moon, in charts of several world record pilots, leading to sudden difficulties in the carrying out of planned enterprises resulting in failures to reach the set target. Chi and Phi Phoenix 4ar52, 5ar01 – of the Fire Bird  conjunct Uranus (4ar43) [not shown in chart] of new developments point towards difficulties in the Fighter Aircraft development program.

But perhaps the most interesting image of the problem comes from the Sabian symbol [2] of the progressed Moon on the Ascendant.

In this case the energies of the base planets can be summarized as:

Venus-Saturn: Finances (Venus) are tight or scarce (Saturn)

Mars-Pluto:  Obsession (Pluto) with war (Mars) or machines of war

However, the Moon at apex of the Yod is  conjunct Aldebaran : The royal star Aldebaran provides two alternatives: (a) when negative, people or leaders can become a law unto themselves  with grave danger of a fall from power. (b) when positive, Aldebaran inspires world leaders to behave like royalty whose function it is to provide physical logistics and infrastructure  to support humanity through evolutionary growth and change.
