The Great Storm Bird and the
Sun God
At least 51 people have been killed
after a huge tornado tore through Oklahoma
City suburbs, with the death toll likely to rise. Worst
hit was Moore ,
south of the city, where neighbourhoods were flattened and schools were
destroyed by winds of up to 200mph (321km/h). About 120 people, including 70
children, are being treated in hospitals for their injuries.
Meteorological
astrology or astrometeorology (from Greek ἄστρον, astron, "constellation,
star"; μετέωρος, metéōros, "high in the sky"; and -λογία,
-logia) is the practice of applying the astrological/astronomical placements of
the Sun, Moon, and planets to forecast the weather.[1] The rules of astro-meteorology
are summed up by Kim Farnell.
A Basic Guide to Astro-meteorology
Cast a chart for the Sun's ingress
into each of the four cardinal signs, i.e. 00 deg of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and
Capricorn.
The charts are interpreted using the
4th house as the main indicator followed by the first house. 50% of the overall
prevailing conditions are described by the planets in the 4th house, their sign
and the aspects they make to other planets, followed by the sign on the cusp
and its ruler. 25% is from the 1st house - using the same formula. The
remaining 25% is from the rest of the chart and in particular any planet in a
close approaching aspect to the MC.
Pay close attention to planets (and
stars too!) which are conjunct angles. These
are very important and may override much of the sign descriptions. If these
angular planets make hard aspects they too need to be noted.
There is
growing tendency amongst modern astrologers to explain an event from a chart for the moment the event takes place.
This is contrary to the practice followed by the ancient masters. As mentioned
in previous posts, this is like giving more importance to the ‘second hand’ of
a clock when we should be concentrating on the ‘hour hand’. It should be easy
to understand that a clock is not going to strike the hour till the ‘hand hour’
is in place. Once that happens, the ‘minute and second hands’ will follow in
due course.
Shown here
is the chart for the entry of the Sun into sidereal Aries. Pluto is on the MC
with Uranus square it so that both aspect the 4th cusp (IC) – the house
most associated with weather. (see rules above). For those who follow TNPs,
Zeus which represents intense and focussed energy is on the cusp of the 4th
house But more interesting are the stars
of the constellation Corvus, the Crow [3] [4] on the IC . The stars of Corvus formed an archaic
Euphratean lunar mansion whose patron god was Im-dugud-khu, “The Great Storm Bird” or the “Storm
Bird of the Evil Wind”.
Continuing
the analogy of the clock, the minute hand would be the entry of the Sun into
Gemini, the chart for which shows once again Uranus-Pluto on the angles with the stars of Corvus on the Ascendant!
