The Syrian civil war is an ongoing
armed conflict in Syria
between forces loyal to the Syrian Ba'ath Party government and those seeking to
oust it. The conflict began on 15 March 2011, with popular demonstrations that
grew nationwide by April 2011. These demonstrations were part of the wider
Middle Eastern protest movement known as the Arab Spring. Protesters demanded
the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad, whose family has held the
presidency in Syria
since 1971, as well as the end to over four decades of Ba'ath Party rule. Opposition
forces are mainly composed of defected soldiers and civilian volunteers, who became increasingly armed and organized as they unified into larger groups. However,
the rebels remained fractured, without organized leadership. The Syrian
government characterizes the insurgency as an uprising of "armed terrorist
groups and foreign mercenaries". The conflict has no clear fronts, with
clashes taking place in many towns and cities across the country.
In mundane
astrology primary importance is given to the chart of a country. Here we will
use the Jan 1, 1944 map for Syria
to understand the reason behind the civil war. The radix Sun is on the cusp of
the fourth house. Pluto has been transiting conjunct the Sun and opposite the
MC. In a mundane map the MC or the tenth house represents the government or
ruling party while the fourth represents the opposition.
Transiting Pluto Period of major
transformation in the life-pattern. Often the end of a 'chapter of experience'
for the start of another, due to eruptive developments that have been 'brewing
up' under the surface for some time. Fateful encounters, power urges, power
struggles . Old issues from past come to surface. Pluto exposes these issues so
that their nature may be understood and the subject work to change them.[1]

Here are characteristic manifestations when Saturn
and Pluto come into major hard alignment [2]:
1) The
empowerment of forces of hatred, murderous aggression, of evil and the demonic,
of the secretive and subversive, of the underworld—elemental, instinctual,
criminal—with consequences that are punitive, defeating, traumatic,
contracting, tragic. More generally, the simultaneous experience in extreme
form of both violence and contraction.
2) The
feeling of being caught helplessly in the grip of overwhelming, powerful, and
often dark forces, of being the victim of large ruthless impersonal forces of
nature or of history that are both destructive and imprisoning. More generally,
a sense of larger powers of any kind—social, historical, elemental, biological,
archetypal—being in control of one’s life. The powerlessness of the entrapped
and suffering victim is usually matched by an obsessive drive for control,
power, and domination, the two sides of the experience mirroring each other,
sometimes occurring in alternation in the same person or community.

P.S.
The table
above shows progressed Ascendant and MC aspecting Saturn-Pluto. Saturn is the
conjunct the stars of the Warrior Orion (a symbol for war) while Pluto is
conjunct Gianfar of Draco and the stars of Hydra. [3]
Conjoining Hydra's head is northern
Gianfar, Lambda Draco, on the tail of the Dragon. Gianfar, the poisoned place,
is of neurological currents, specifically those emanating from "poisons of
the heart" that manifest cellular patterns within ourselves that
relentlessly destroy that which we touch through endless battering of our
courage, optimism, and strength—destroying us through sheer exhaustion. Here we
are asked to realize how unresolved bitterness or resentments of the heart can
perpetually avert us from the fulfillment we seek.
Quasar 1133+704 of Draco inspires us
to look at our undermining behavioral patterns from alternative viewpoints that
we might not normally consider. It and Gianfar invite us to explore any inner
fears that may tie us to the past and that keep us from living our heart's
truth in the present, so we can emerge from antiquated and ingrained neural-net
patterns in our brains and establish new and alternative neural pathways.
The two
paragraphs describe perfectly the reason behind the war – “poisons of the heart”
that is at the root of the current
conflict between the Shias and the Sunnis fuelled by the US and Israel who are using this opportunity
to remove Assad motivated by poisons of their hearts.
