Hidden connections: Costa Concordia and US Navy Yard shooting

What makes astrology supremely relevant is that it discloses an unsuspected dimension of the world we think we know so well. It is as though we have become accustomed to see only the horizontal yarn of the weaving, the weft, and are largely unaware of the warp. We are accustomed to break down our world, in order to understand it, into certain categories, recognizing what belongs to this category, what belongs to that. That is ‘scientific’. Twelve people killed at Washington Navy Yard

At least 12 people have been killed and at least four injured in a shooting at a naval installation in Washington DC (on 16 Sep) . A gunman was killed at the scene. Police were initially searching for two additional "potential" gunman but one has since been ruled out. Shots were reported at 08:20 local time (12:20 GMT), and authorities have sealed off a swathe of south-east Washington DC.

Stricken Costa Concordia ship set upright

Engineers in Italy have succeeded in setting the cruise ship Costa Concordia upright, 20 months after it ran aground off the island of Giglio. They said that the unprecedented salvage effort "reached degree zero (vertical), which was our target". In the operation that took all of Monday (16 Sep.) and most of the night, they used cables and metal boxes filled with water to roll the ship onto a platform. The Costa Concordia capsized on 13 January 2012, at 21:10 GMT killing 32 people.

The two news items appear to be completely unrelated and yet we will see that they represent the same archetype working in two different ways. Both events occurred on 16 Sep. when Mercury was opposing Uranus triggering the Uranus-Pluto square. The  Mercury-Uranus opposition [16 Sep; 6:41 UT] took place on the horizon axis at Giglio Porto and was on the horizon axis at Washington when the  sailor went on rampage. Fast moving Mercury served to trigger the potential contained in the powerful Uranus-Pluto archetype.

The Uranus-Pluto archetype manifests as the unleashing of the  primal and elemental forces in various senses . In man they can erupt as unpredictable violence as the suppressed animal breaks free …in nature as  volcanoes, earthquakes,  hurricanes, tsunamis etc.  Uranus acting on Pluto, with the Promethean principle  can awaken, liberate or regenerate, in sudden, unexpected ways, often  through technology, the Plutonic-Dionysian principle of nature’s depths [1].  In the first news item we have a breakdown as the animal in man breaks down  the thin crust of civilized behaviour and rages in violence while in the second we have a technological breakthrough that brings a sunken ship out from the ocean’s depths.

While opposing Uranus (11ar) Mercury  at 11li was conjunct the star mu Velorum, in the sail of the ship Argo Navis so that both the incidents involve ships or ship yards in some way.

 In addition the upcoming Full Moon [27pi] of 19 Sep is conjunct the star Scheat, beta Pegasus, the Flying Horse.  In Washington DC, the Full Moon straddles the horizon while at Giglio, Italy it is on the meridian axis making it significant for both places.  The star  Scheat has been associated with ships and shipwrecks, accidents and catastrophes  but also with mental creativity that can inspire some people to “uplift”  themselves from difficult circumstances [2]. So that in the first news item we see an accident while in the second the Flying Horse, Pegasus provides the necessary mental creativity to the engineers to help 'lift' the Costa Concordia out from the depths.
