Russia’s Duma passes amnesty bill

MOSCOW (AP) — Russia's parliament on Wednesday (18 Dec.) passed an amnesty bill that will likely apply to the 30-member crew of a Greenpeace ship detained after an Arctic protest, but it wasn't immediately clear if and when the activists would be allowed to leave the country. The amnesty, which also would likely free the two jailed members of the Pussy Riot punk band, has been largely viewed as the Kremlin's attempt to soothe criticism of Russia's human rights records ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi in February. But opposition lawmakers argued it doesn't go nearly far enough and the complicated legislation appeared to leave many questions open.

In mundane astrology, cardinal ingress and eclipse charts are the primary tools for prediction of events. Since the angles of these charts are specific for a location, their subsequent progressions and contacts with planets symbolically describe the  events that take place. Shown above is the progression on 18 December of the current Capricorn Ingress chart for Moscow. Notice the now well known Kronos-Hades-Pluto-Uranus T-square on the angles. Readers can refer to previous posts where this T-square has brought about changes (Pluto-Uranus)  in archaic (Hades) laws (Kronos); humiliated or brought down (Hades) those in high positions (Kronos)  or even empowered (Kronos)  the masses (Hades) or given legitimacy (Kronos) to all that was rejected or taboo (Hades). Here too the passing of the amnesty bill in Moscow is doing just that. We need to remind ourselves of the essential meaning of the Pluto-Uranus square. It represents the clash between courageous/warrior-like individuals (Uranus in Aries)  fighting for people’s liberties against the power of the state (Pluto in Capricorn). It shouldn’t be too difficult to see that the courageous actions of the Pussy Riot punk band and the Green Peace activist have forced the Russian government to change the laws.

Beside  the progression of the Capingress chart, the Full Moon (17 December)  at Moscow , significantly placed on the meridian axis, is offering similar clues. The Sun [25sa36] is conjunct the Galactic Center [27sa]. Philip Sedgwick [1] likens the dynamics of  the GC to a process of psychic defragging in which obsolete, wrong or undesired segments of information and knowledge are pushed out of our minds clearing space for new information to enter both the conscious and subconscious minds.

The Moon [25ge36] is conjunct the star Al Hecka [24ge59] which according to Nick Fiorenza also highlights the need for a change in stand.

Al Hecka, Zeta Taurus, the south horn, is of stalemates, standoffs, and brick walls—fighting old and antiquated crusades—particularly of a religious-political nature—and blindly or automatically continuing the fight out of habitual pattern even though the original purpose behind what we were fighting for is long gone. Al Hecka can express as beating one’s head against the wall, a relentless and futile pursuit. Al Hecka brings attention to when the accomplishment pursued is of a time no longer applicable—the time to surrender the physical struggle and move onward into a field of mutual cooperation. [2]

On the Ascendant [17pi26] is the star Achernar, alpha Eridanus [15pi29] and Ankaa, alpha Phoenix [15pi40]. For stars in this area, Diana Rosenberg  writes [3]:

Their actions and discoveries may put them at odds with their communities, bringing about painful limitations or humiliations, even physical dangers, but medical goddess Gula, the cleansing waters of Aquarius and the ever-regenerating Phoenix offer renewal and healing. History and paradigm altering events take place here.

P.S. Breaking News on 19 December is that Putin has pardoned Khodorkovsky, a former Russian oligarch and businessman charged with fraud.
