The horoscope of Kejriwal’s government in Delhi

Weeks after registering a stunning debut in assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has formed government in Delhi on 28 December. AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal has taken oath as Delhi’s 7th chief minister. The swearing in ceremony was completed at 12:15 pm.

The horoscope for the AAP Government is shown above. Notice the T-square of Uranus [8ar] on the Ascendant [7ar] opposite Mars [9li] on descendant and both square Pluto [11cp]. We have discussed the Uranus-Pluto square earlier. It represents the  archetypal clash: courageous/warrior-like actions of individuals on behalf of the people's liberties (Uranus in Aries) vs. an intensification/consolidation of power by institutional structures facing threats to their authority (Pluto in Capricorn). Kejriwal’s government represents exactly that [1].

Mars [9li58] is conjunct the stars Vindemiatrix (Al Muredin), epsilon Virginis [9li15] and omicron Hydrae [10li30] . The Virgin’s purity makes people self-righteous “holier-than-thou” zealots persecuting those who in their eyes, do not adhere to their ideas of morality and high standards [2]. Readers may detect here a connection to the puritan ideals of Arvind Kejriwal and his party. Coincidentally, Kejriwal’s progressed Sun is at 9li. Such people can latch on to political absolutes and expect others to do the same.  Diana Rosenberg notes that the conflict between the Virgin’s honest, upright will-to-good and Hydra’s dark lair of greed and arrogant self interest leads to oppressions and struggles against them and transits to these stars bring about major changes in laws, mores, governments and ways of thinking. She also adds that these stars teach us how much to fight for a vision and when to compromise. Those who reach positions of power have a task to turn hatred into peace and co-operation. Not all visions are immediately realizable in their purest form [3].

With such a prominent T-square this government cannot be considered to be stable. However, whether it is short or long lived the Sabian symbol for the Sun-Mercury conjunction tells us its purpose.
