Astrology of the lightning strike on Christ’s statue in Rio

A lightning strike has damaged a thumb of Rio de Janeiro's famous Christ the Redeemer statue. The thumb on the right hand of the 38m (125ft) statue was hit during a storm on Thursday night, officials said. [1]

Shown above is the chart for the 3 Nov 2013 solar eclipse at Rio. Conjunct the MC [13li] is the star Kraz [17li] of Corvus .  Among manifestations connected to this area Diana Rosenberg lists “lightning and electrical events”. [2] Uranus is conjunct 12 Andromedae – a star on the right hand of the Princess.

Progressing the chart to 16 Jan brings  the Descendant to a conjunction with Kraz – the star associated with lightning and the Ascendant  to a conjunction with Uranus (electricity) and a quincunx aspect to the Sun. The Sun is conjunct Acrux, alpha Crux – a star in the Cross which by association is linked to Christ. [3]

"Crux is said to give perseverance, but many burdens, trials and responsibilities, together with much suffering and many hardships. In connection with rulerships of countries it may be noted that Brazil was named the Land of the Holy Cross by the discoverer Cabral on May 1st 1500, and that the constellation Crux has been represented on the postage stamps of that country".  [Robson, p.41.] [4]
