Business leaders, heads of government,
entrepreneurs and even the odd celebrity will be rubbing fur and down-quilted
shoulders at Europe 's highest altitude town,
Davos, for the World Economic Forum's annual meeting this week [January 20 to
January 25]. As is traditional, the theme of its annual meeting in Davos is
sweeping and, at first glance, somewhat opaque: "The Reshaping of the
World: Consequences for Society, politics and Business." The WEF says the
theme "reflects on the disruptions that societies face on a global scale
driven by rapid technological and scientific innovation, accelerating social
change and a shifting global economic order."
The Full
Moon Lunar Eclipse [25ar45] of 19 October formed a T-square with Jupiter [19cn]
which was conjunct the star Castor [20cn] of the Gemini Twins ruled by the god
of business and trade Mercury. [1]
Global commerce is the essence of Castor and Pollux--the
Twins. While Jupiter is associated with global resources because money is a
mobilizing agent, and Jupiter's quality mobilizes and expands. [2]
Progressing
the chart to 20 January, the start of the WEF meeting brings the Ascendant in
line with the eclipse axis which in astrological terms means that this is one
important date when the meaning of the eclipse is triggered. With Jupiter
conjunct Castor the message is related to global commerce.
Mercury is a major Roman god, being one of the Dii
Consentes within the ancient Roman pantheon. He is the patron god of financial
gain, commerce, eloquence (and thus poetry), messages/communication (including
divination), travellers, boundaries, luck, trickery and thieves; he is also the
guide of souls to the underworld. He was considered the son of Maia and Jupiter
in Roman mythology. His name is possibly related to the Latin word merx
("merchandise"; compare merchant, commerce, etc.), mercari (to
trade), and merces (wages).
