On why Geneva II talks on Syria are promising

The Syrian National Coalition, the main umbrella opposition body in exile, has agreed to participate in long-awaited peace talks planned for January 22 in Geneva. In August 2013 , the UN envoy Brahimi had said  that the main problem was getting the different groups in Syria and their different international supporters to accept the "very principle of a political solution". He said that this has been the UN approach to the Syrian civil war since the war began.

The dynamics of a Grand Cross are such that we are being presented with Four Ways of Being/Doing and it would appear at first that you can  deny, suppress or project at least two of these and assume or live out the other two. Of course this is not possible or true. Instead we must find a way that integrates all the Four Ways.  

Uranus in  Aries  square Pluto in Capricorn

 The release of new Seed-Ideas is accelerating the tempo of Social and  Political changes. Uranus is stoking the "Fires of Freedom", but of course what is held as "freedom" for one group may often be feared and/or experienced as tyranny and exploitation by another, and vice versa.  The breaking down of  institutions has been met by individuals and groups in a wide range of expectable and not so expectable responses. Some individuals and institutions have "doubled-down" on the exercise (and oftentimes the abuse) of their power, for they have fears about change and what they might lose, and they will try to maintain their power, position and the status quo for they see no other way. While others have set their intentions and efforts against "the system", and they are carrying the torch of Creation by Destruction, rebelling, revolting and challenging the old order in an attempt to bring down what they see as a more or less wholly corrupt and unredeemable regime.

Jupiter in Cancer

There is the Guidance, Hope and a Challenge being proffered by the planet which stands opposite to Pluto at this time, and it is here that you may find part of your answer. Jupiter is moving through Cancer and offers you the gift of Water that will help you reconnect to your Foundations. Here you will find a refreshing renewal of the deeper connections to the Root-Truth of any person, group, institution or society. Deeper Understanding that it brings is that we are all part of one "Great Family", all brothers and sisters on a journey. Yet negatively Jupiter in Cancer can stoke prejudices that make us identify with Tribal, Ethnic, Religious, Social or Political Identities.

Since the T-square comprising the big three Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto has been active since  mid last year when the Syrian opposition refused to join the Geneva I peace talks we must try and understand what the new entrant Mars in Libra brings to the table. We can see from the Capsolar and Full Moon chart at Geneva why the Mars leg of the Grand Cross placed on the MC is relevant now. That is not to say that the participants in the peace talks will rise to the highest potential that it represents.

Mars in Libra is about the need to  guide actions (Mars) by an enlightened social sensibility  and  mutual respect for one another (Libra).  

Since Mars will remain in Libra   till the end of July 2014 and complete the Grand Cross several times between now and then  (owing to retrograde motion) there is hope for peace in Syria. Can it also bring peace in the Mid-East ? Let us hope it can.
