A couple of years Nick Brown was taking a
postgraduate course in applied positive psychology. There was a slide showing a
butterfly graph – the branch of mathematical modelling most often associated
with chaos theory. On the graph was a tipping point that claimed to identify
the precise emotional co-ordinates that divide those people who
"flourish" from those who "languish". According to the
graph, it all came down to a specific ratio of positive emotions to negative
emotions. If your ratio was greater than 2.9013 positive emotions to 1
negative emotion you were flourishing in life. If your ratio was less than
that number you were languishing.
Brown, an amateur, who was suspicious of the research paper was along
with Sokal able to prove that the theory was a hoax, a deliberate pastiche of the sorts
of nonsensical postmodern appropriations of maths and physics.
The original
research paper was published by the authoritative journal American
Psychologist – the pre-eminent publication in the world of psychology. This
journal is a product of the American
Psychological Association, Washington
DC . The news item above was
published by the Guardian on 19 Jan 2014. Shown here is the current Capricorn
Ingress chart (Capsolar) at Washington .
Notice the powerful Grand Cross on the angles. Jupiter along with the TNPs
Kronos-Hades is conjunct the MC.
The sign
Cancer and by association its ruler the Moon corresponds to one's feelings and
those pervasive but largely unconscious psychological patterns that were
established deep in one's past. Jupiter
stands for the academia. The TNP Hades is related to research among other
things so that a keyphrase for Hades in Cancer would be psychological research.
Kronos is authorities or experts in any field so Kronos-Hades in Cancer can be
a reference to experts in the field of psychological research. Martha Wescott
also gives the following interpretations for Kronos-Hades.
Kronos/Hades : to see experts (Kronos) make mistakes (Hades) ; to see a link between
“fame” (Kronos) and “shame” (Hades).
On the
Ascendant is the star Algorab [13li37]. Delta (δ) Corvus, Algorab, is a double
star, 3.1 and 8.5 magnitude, pale yellow and purple, on the right wing of the
Raven. Astrologically the Raven is linked to lies, fraud and deceit.

troublesome side of Libra, a variation on the truth when an excuse looks to be

To complete the picture we have the Uranus-Pluto square …courageous/
actions of individuals (Uranus in Aries) vs. institutional structures facing
threats to their authority (Pluto in Capricorn) [1]
