Astrology of the Korea ferry disaster

South Korean president Park Geun-Hye says the behaviour of the captain and crew of the Sewol ferry that capsized with 476 people on board  (many children from a school) was unacceptable and "tantamount to murder". Ms Park added that it was increasingly clear that the captain had unnecessarily delayed the evacuation of passengers as the ferry started sinking, and then "deserted them" by escaping first. The captain was arrested on Saturday along with a helmsman and the ship's relatively inexperienced third officer, who was in charge of the bridge when the ship first ran into trouble.

A well timed mundane national chart is always the best starting point for a major event. Shown here is  South Korea’s national chart. Currently the secondary progressed MC [16ar22] is opposite Mars [17li10] in the 5th house. Mars is conjunct Neptune [10li58]. The mundane 5th house rules children  as well as schools [1] while Mars/Neptune is an accident [Mars] at sea [Neptune]. Opposite this combination  is the TNP Admetus [20ar23] conjunct TNP Hades [28ar]. Notice that the April 15 eclipse with the Sun [25ar] which fell right at the midpoint of Admetus/Hades activated the entire radix axis.

Admetus/Hades [2]

There will be a number of situations where dependence on others [Admetus] , leads be mistakes [Hades].  And you  may see some events that strike you as meaning that because people just stood by and did nothing [Admetus], there was suffering [Hades].

In addition, two days before the accident on April 14, there was a Mars return just 6 days after a Mars-Sun opposition which represents the midpoint of the Mars retrograde cycle and the start of the Earth-Mars synod. A chart drawn for the Sun-Mars opposition at Seoul shows the stressful  Grand Cross involving Uranus-Pluto-Mars (a combination that has potential for accidents) straddling the horizon axis. Notice that Mars is within 2 degrees of the radix Mars in the mundane 5th house. Also the Ascendant is conjunct Uranus [12ar51] which in turn is conjunct 25 Ceti [12ar47] in the Sea Monster’s tail and Alderamin, alpha Cephei [12ar57].  Also influencing is Baten Kaitos [22ar] zeta Cetus (conjunct the Sun [18ar57]) – a star well known to be connected with shipwrecks [3].

The constellation Cepheus represents a King, in other words, those in authority. About the star Alderamin, alpha Cepheus, Nick Fiorenza writes:

Alderamin can expresses as denial, avoidance, or turning one's head from dealing with (what is causing) other people's entrapment with a flippant attitude to do anything about them. [4]
