A forgotten eclipse frees two Calcutta girls from poverty

A milkman’s daughter made it to the IIT to pursue her dream of becoming a physicist. Sana Afrin funded her education and that of her brother’s by giving tuition and working as a primary school teacher. Zeba Afreen, a fatherless girl whose mother works in a sweatshop to pay for her education, is set to become a doctor. Metro meets the two inspiring girls. As in previous posts we will see here how this news  can be understood in terms of metaphors or symbols drawn from the rich mythology of the stars. We begin by looking at the chart of the  Full Moon eclipse of October 19, 2013  at Calcutta.  The eclipse is on the horizon  axis  with Jupiter on the MC so that it is important for the place. The Moon [25ar45] is conjunct 22 Andromedae [24ar37] a star in the chained right hand of the woman – a perfect symbol for slavery or being in very difficult circumstances. The Sun, on the other hand, is conjunct  Foreamen, eta Carinae [22li21] , Arcturus, [24li24] alpha Bootes often shown as a protector or a herdsman and Spica, alpha Virgo [24li] the innocent Virgin he protects. All these are very bright stars about which Diana Rosenberg writes “there is no area of the zodiac with a more powerful potential to help humankind in its eternal struggle toward the light.”

Jupiter [19cn54] is on the MC conjunct lambda Geminorum [19ge] of Pollux and iota Geminorum [19] where the Twins are joined. The Twins metaphorically represent siblings, neighbours or two people joined together with a common fate as the two girls in the story. Pollux, the immortal son of  Zeus has an inner sense of superiority  and self-worth, a strong need to excel and  be in the spotlight.  About the Twins, Diana Rosenberg writes:

Although they were twins, Pollux was the son of Zeus, king of the gods, but Castor had a human father; this dichotomy plays itself out here, for under these stars royal arrogance is at odds with insignificant origins and a humble lot in life. Some here are born into privilege, but many who are not nonetheless display the guts of the daring Twins, for they will fight their way up from a downtrodden position and will help others to do so demonstrating that position in life depends upon more than inheritance and bloodlines. [1]

Neptune [2pi46]  which forms a sesquisquare aspect to Jupiter and the MC is conjunct the star Enif, epsilon Pegasi [2pi05]. If we recall that Pegasus is the magical flying horse that delivers Andromeda from her captivity we can understand the following description of Enif from Nick Fiorenza.

Pegasus, in general, is of strength and support, that which lifts humanity above the entrapping forces and scenarios common to a less than socially mature world. Enif, Baham and Homam are a group of fortuitous stars that lie over the Aquarian waterbearer, forming the head of Pegasus.

So why has the news story broken now? Well if we progress the eclipse chart to July 9, the progressed Ascendant reaches the conjunction to Jupiter triggering the eclipse-Jupiter T-square to the eclipse axis. The second trigger comes from the Full Moon of July 12 which has the Sun [20cn] conjunct Jupiter [19cn54] in the eclipse chart.
