Moon Wobble: Release for self-nurturance

On July 16 at 11:22:52 UT, the Sun [23cn52] will square the Mean Node [23li52]. This is a phenomena known as “Moon Wobble”. While it is exact on July 16, 2014 it may be felt for approximately a week on either side.

Moon Wobbles were discovered in the 1930's, when research by astrologer Carl Payne Tobey (1902-1980), the original editor of Astrology Magazine, revealed that disasters occur in cycles associated with the conjunction (0°), opposition (180°) and square (90°) from the Sun to the Moon's Node. These powerful contacts occur when the Sun and the Node are in the same sign, or the opposing sign, or when the Sun is in a square aspect to the nodal axis.[1]

During Moon Wobble the instability factor is high, resulting in more accidents, fires, plane crashes, freak accidents, floods, feats of nature, bizarre weather patterns, earthquakes, tornadoes, violence, Terrorism, riots, and political and personal upheavals. These Cycles bring suppressed energies in people and Mother Nature to the surface, erupting and disrupting. [2]

Moon Wobbles are potent archetypal gifts to identify experiential and existential tension. Use this jolt of joy wisely for accelerated evolution, participation in Cosmic Intention, and transcendance of the endless lunar cycle.

Thane Walker, metaphysician and astrologer, taught an ontological meditation wherein the Sun symbolizes the essential self ("figuratively speaking") and the Moon reflects an endlessly changing principle. An endlessly cycling wheel of fortune of temporal, mortal flesh, birth, fruition and decay. The Moon goes out into the lifeworld and soaks up its little taste of experience, then offers this chunk of sense testimony to the Sun for processing. The nodal axis crystallizes the relationship between Sun and Moon to reflect that sphere of life in which the coniunctio - the inner blending of the two principles - is most likely to manifest. An androgynous coitus between a changing, receptive principle and a constant, radiant principle. Remember, if you are not working through your subconscious issues you are more likely to fall prey to your emotions. [3]

What Walker did not add was that if we have been working on ourselves then this is an opportunity for “spiritual release” from patterns of behaviour that we have now outgrown as in the example of Pope Benedict’s resignation [4].

Some other points that need to be mentioned in connection with this particular Moon Wobble are as follows. Note that the Sun is in Cancer – the sign of mothers and nurturing – conjunct the TNO Varuna . Ceres and Vesta conjoin the North Node.

We had discussed this combination in a previous post “Chinese parents abandon disabled children” [5]  so that the following extract is relevant here:

Ceres/Vesta: A detached attitude or emotional distancing in mother-child relationships; parental abandonment or rejection.

Philip Sedgwick in his book “Soul of the Sky” describes Varuna in the following words:

This comes from the blending of Cancer (North node) and Aries (perihelion). Such a combination reflects the urge for self-nurturing at the most fundamental level. One must make personal care the utmost priority. Feeding the self on all levels of real world reality (food, drink, feeling, love) supports the spirit in self-realization to the extent that it may assert itself into the flow of the cosmic waters. Participation on the planet becomes an important task, but follows proper personal sustenance.

This reminds me of a conversation I heard in a bathroom in San Francisco years ago. One man said to another, “First you work on yourself, then you work on the world. When you get tired, you pull back and take care of yourself again. Then, you have more to give back to the planet again.”
