Young man killed for protesting crime in Calcutta

Calcutta, July 5: A college student's body, chopped to pieces, was found beside the railway track in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district Saturday, police said, with his family and local residents alleging he was murdered for protesting criminal activities in the area. The crime evoked disgust across the state and opposition parties attacked the ruling Trinamool Congress for not checking crime. Sourav Chowdhury was missing since Friday night, said his family. An empty cartridge shell was also found at the spot.

The locals alleged Sourav had to pay with his life for protesting against illegal liquor dens and gambling rackets operating in the area. "He used to protest against these rackets. So he was killed so cruelly by criminals," said a sobbing woman resident of Bamangachi. http://bit.ly/1odvOdR

The chart for the First Quarter Moon phase at Calcutta, India is shown here. Notice that the luminaries tie in with the Uranus-Pluto square forming a Grand Cross on the meridian axis implying that it was going to be significant for the place. The Sun [13cn] is conjunct Sirius, alpha Canis Major and Canopus, alpha Argo Navis - the two brightest stars in the sky. The “flaming heat” of the Dog star was well known to ancient astrologers like Manilius who wrote:

The brilliant constellation of the Dog: it barks forth flame, raves with its fire  and doubles the burning heat of the Sun….Words run ahead of the speakers: the mind is too fast for the mouth .Their hearts start throbbing at the slightest cause, and when speech comes their tongues rave and bark, and constant gnashing imparts the sound of teeth to their utterance. [1]

Eric Morse relates Canopus to the quest for spiritual perfection and purification of body, soul and spirit. A sacred star to many cultures, it was, to the Persians a symbol of wisdom.

Diana Rosenberg combines the influence of Sirius and Canopus to give us the following interpretation:

Seekers of fundamental principles to live by, bedrock convictions that will stand all the tests of their lives, some become fierce defenders of liberty and individual human rights. Enraged by injustice, many here burn with an inner flame that, if not mastered and channelled can consume them.

On the MC [12li]  is the Moon [13li] and Mars [20li]. Here we have Vindemiatrix, epsilon Virginis [10li], Gienah, gamma Corvi  of the Raven[11li]; omicron Hydrae of the Water-Snake [11li] and HD103581 in Crater, the Cup [10li] . Here the Virgin with high moral standards is forever at loggerheads with the Raven and the Hydra – symbols of evil.

Crater, the Cup[2], is often considered a part of the threefold constellation; Hydra, Corvus and Crater. It relates to the myth [Ovid's Fasti, 2.243-66] that Apollo sent a Raven (Corvus) to fetch water in the god's cup (Crater). In the image above, we can see the Virgin, the Raven, the Hydra and the Cup.

"Manilius described Crater as 'gratus Iaccho Crater' (Iaccho is Roman Bacchus, who is identified with Greek Dionysus and may be Orion), so using the mystic, poetical name often applied to Bacchus" (Allen, Star Names):

"The Bacchic feast of intoxication was, however sensual in later performance, a token of the legitimate and blessed ecstasy of the soul upon partaking of the heavenly wine. The vine and the mixing bowl were constellated as celestial symbols, the latter as the cluster called the Crater (Latin: bowl) or the Goblet, the sacramental cup or grail. The juice of the grape was the blood of Horus or Osiris, in the Egyptian Eucharist" [The Lost Light, Alvin Boyd Kuhn].

How strange that the mythology of the stars describes almost every element of the news story including a reference to the wine. So how does the Uranus-Pluto square fit in here? Uranus in Aries can mean standing up for individual freedom through the protection of personal rights against the draconian power of a collective that no longer considers the needs of individuals – the dark side of Pluto in Capricorn.
