Ship in Storm by Buttersworth
A
message in a bottle thrown into the sea 108 years ago by British scientists has
been discovered washed up on a beach in Germany. It is believed to be the oldest
message-in-a-bottle ever found. Marianne Winkler, a retired post office worker,
found the message from the past while on holiday with her husband on the North
Sea island of Amrum.Mrs Winkler found the bottle in April, but was shy of
publicity and the full story has only now emerged. "It's always a joy when some one finds a
message-in-a-bottle on the beach," she told the Amrum News, a local
website."Where does it come from, who wrote it, and how long has it been
travelling on the winds, waves and currents?"But when Mrs Winkler stumbled
on her message-in-a-bottle, she had no idea quite how old it would turn out to
be. Written on a piece of paper inside were the words "Break the
bottle"."My husband, Horst, carefully tried to get the message out of
the bottle, but there was no chance, so we had to do as it said," Mrs
Winkler said.Inside they found a postcard with no date but a message promising
a reward of a shilling to anyone who returned it.The message, in English,
German and Dutch, asked anyone who discovered the bottle to fill in some information
on where and how they found it. Aug 20 http://goo.gl/OLO4oP
The news
comes to us on August 20, just two days before Sun-Saturn form an exact square.
At Amrum, this is part of a T-square
with a Jupiter-Neptune opposition that straddles the meridian. The combination
Jupiter-Neptune is linked not only to long voyages by sea but symbolically speaking
also to unrealistic projects that have
little hope of realization.
Jupiter[2vi]
is conjunct the stars theta Pyxidis
[3vi], the Compass of the Celestial Ship Argo and alpha Sextant [3vi]. Compass and sextants are used by mariners as navigation or location guides. They exemplify the imposition of order on the sea’s chaos and
the location of the soul within the turbulence of the world. A ship (Jupiter)
plowing the dangerous seas (Neptune) embodies the necessity of learning to sail
the sea of passions in order to reach the island (Saturn) of salvation. Saturn
is always a reality check on Jupiter-Neptune (dreams or speculative bubbles) . It is linked
to failures as well as fulfillment. This
story was about the fulfillment of George Bidder’s dream project which he
conceived in early 1900s. But what about failures of “speculative bubbles”? In the next story we have that too.
A
worldwide sell-off pushed U.S. stocks to their worst week since 2011 as spooked
investors scattered amid worries of an economic slowdown in China and the
potential for higher interest rates at home. The Dow Jones industrial average
capped a four-day losing streak by dropping more than 500 points to close at
16,459.75, sinking 10 percent from its May peak and following even steeper
market declines in Asia and Europe. Widely held stocks such as Wells Fargo,
Google and Facebook have lost tens of billions of dollars in market value in
two days. Apple, one of the world’s most-traded stocks, was up 20 percent for
the year as recently as July but has lost all of its gains — and ended the week
down 9 percent. Aug 21 http://goo.gl/tu1vZS
The chart for
transit Sun[28le35] square Saturn [28sc35] on August 21 at New York has it
straddling the horizon axis that is aligned with the “speculative bubble”
Jupiter-Neptune opposition. Here the Saturn aspect denotes the failures of the
ill-conceived plans driving the stock markets since they had no connection to
market fundamentals.
