Depressed people who display "risky
behaviour", agitation and impulsivity are at least 50% more likely to
attempt suicide, a study has found. Research by the European College of
Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) concluded that the behaviour patterns
"precede many suicide attempts". The study said effective prevention
measures were "urgently needed". The World Health Organisation
estimates that there were more than 800,000 suicides worldwide in 2012. Aug. 30

To
understand this news we will go back to the lunar eclipse of April 4. This
eclipse was discussed in two previous posts [1][2] connected to mental health
and depression. We start with the chart for the eclipse drawn for Barcelona
where the author of the study Dr. Dina Popovic
is based.
The
eclipse axis coincides with the meridian and is part of a T-square with
Uranus-Pluto which among other things is associated with a breakdown. So what
is the nature of the breakdown? The medical asteroid Askalaphus [14li] is
conjunct the Moon[14li] and opposite the asteroid Psyche[19ar] and Phaethon
[9ar]. The combination Askalaphus-Psyche refers to mental illnesses including
depression! Keywords and phrases for the asteroids as provided by
Martha-Wescott [3]are reproduced below:
AESCULAPIA:
Contact with physicians (including the internal healer) and belief-systems
about the health, symptoms and medical conditions. See aspects of “in need of
or contributing to Healing.” Use also: Asclepius and Askalaphus.
PSYCHE:
Recognition of childhood trauma; raw wounds psychologically; vulnerability;
memories; insight; psychic impressionability; psychological recovery; the state
of your “mental health;” head wounds; brain states.
PHAETHON:
Instances that involve cars, transport, driving; other forms of
recklessness—feeling out of control—as though you’ve taken on more than you can
handle; having trouble keeping to the middle of the road!
The study
found that if a depressed patient
(Aesculapia-Psyche) indulges in risky behaviour (e.g. reckless driving,
promiscuous behaviour) or impulsivity (acting on a whim, displaying behaviour
characterized by little or no forethought (Phaethon) the chances of attempting
suicide increases substantially.
Well,
we can see that the eclipse says just that! But can we be sure? The final test as
always is to progress the eclipse chart to see if it is triggered on the date
in question. In this case when we progress the chart to Aug. 30, the date of
the report, we find that the T-square reaches the angles once again!
