Virgo
– the goddess of Justice
The planned hanging of a paraplegic prisoner
convicted of murder in Pakistan has been delayed, his lawyer has said. Abdul
Basit could not be hanged in compliance with the jail manual because he is in a
wheelchair, a magistrate said when ordering the postponement. Pakistan's prison
guidelines require that a prisoner stand on the gallows. Rights groups say
hanging Basit would constitute cruel and degrading treatment. Abdul Basit, 43,
is paralysed from the waist down and uses a wheelchair after becoming ill in
prison. Sept. 22; http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-34318470
The news
comes at the Sun’s ingress into Libra, an important event in mundane astrology.
A chart for the Ingress at Islamabad, Pakistan is shown here. A skewed Grand
Cross aligns with the meridian. Mercury[14li]
is on the MC amidst stars of the Virgin and Bootis.
Bootes
– the reaping hook arm
The
constellation Virgo was sometimes
identified with the virgin goddess
Iustitia or Astraea, holding the scales of justice in her hand as the
constellation Libra. Interestingly, many of the other mythological female
figures who were believed to represent Virgo include Dike (Greek mythology),
and Erigone (Roman mythology), all of whom represented Justice. Here the stars of Virgo combine with the star Merga
[15li], the reaping hook in the left hand of Bootis, hinting at punishment in
the pursuit of justice.
Anchored to
the Grand Crossand in aspect to Mercury is the TNP Admetus [29ta] which is conjunct the Pleaides cluster. A keyword for Admetus is "delays". In China this was part of the asterism Mao-Téou linked to execution of
criminals. It is placed opposite Saturn [0sa] conjunct the star Yed Prior [2sa]
also referred to as “Man of Death” implying someone chosen to die.
Auriga
– Man in Wheelchair
On the
descendant with the TNPs Kronos and
Hades are stars of Auriga, the Charioteer, which according to Diana Rosenberg
often indicates a person in a wheel chair. Also here is the asteroid Hephaistos
which is linked to problems with the lower limbs. The combination of Kronos-Hades can be
interpreted in our context here as disgust (Hades) with rules or the executive
arm of the government (Kronos) or even as a question of how to apply rules
(Kronos) to people who already are in a bad shape (Hades).
