A doctor who paid for sex with a prostitute while
on emergency duty at a maternity hospital has been told he can keep his job.
Trainee anaesthetist Dr Rupert Pemsel, 32, had a 40-minute sexual encounter
with an escort in an on-call room on a locked corridor, having texted her to
say: "This is naughty on my part so discretion would really be
appreciated." The father-of-two, whose wife is a GP, said he had met the
woman after experiencing stressful episodes in his life, including being
involved in two road accidents and witnessing neonatal deaths in a visit to
Uganda - "stressors" which he said had led him to view internet
pornography. At a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing in Manchester,
Dr Pemsel was suspended from the medical register for ten months, after which
he will be free to resume his NHS post. Tribunal
chairwoman Lisa Smith said the medic had not been struck off because "it
would not benefit the public to be deprived of the services of a clinically
good doctor."March 21 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/nhs/12200652/Doctor-who-had-sex-with-prostitute-while-on-duty-at-maternity-hospital-keeps-his-job.html
News about
Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing in Manchester comes just two
days before the lunar eclipse of March 23 that fell on the meridian axis
conjunct the star eta Virgo, Zaniah [1].
Zaniah comes
from Zanijah, “harlot”. It is also the Chinese "Left-hand Maintainer of
Law" (Allen). Quite often laws are blindly restrictive and sometimes
outdated. There is often a need for such laws to more flexible, realistic and in keeping with the times.
Diana
Rosenberg gives the following examples:
Saturn was here
when the Magna Carter , foundation of English law was signed; the Sun and Jupiter of US Supreme Court Chief
Justice John Marshall, principal founder
of US Constitutional law; other people
with placements here include crusading
politician/ Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black; pioneering feminist Susan B.
Anthony, who devoted her life to gaining the right to vote for women; seamstress
Rosa Parks who in 1955 defied the Alabama law that said she had to give up her
seat on a bus to a white man; her arrest triggered the US Civil Rights Movement
; Mars was here at the 1839 Amistad Rebellion when starving, desperate slaves
took over a ship during a storm: captured and put on trial in the US, they were eventually freed and
returned to Africa.
An extract
from a research project [2] on why men use prostitutes is relevant in the
present context.
One of the most
interesting findings was that many believed men would "need" to rape
if they could not pay for sex on demand. One told me, "Sometimes you might
rape someone: you can go to a prostitute instead." Another put it like
this: "A desperate man who wants sex so bad, he needs sex to be relieved.
He might rape."
That the
tribunal came to a conclusion that favored Dr Rupert Pemsel is an indication
that the star Zaniah- the Left Hand Maintainer of the law was actually active
here.
But to
complete the picture let us remember that a Full Moon eclipse is always linked
to the seed ideas contained in the preceding
New Moon solar eclipse bringing them to a kind of fulfillment. About this
eclipse Nick Fiorenza writes:
This South Node
Solar Eclipse T-Square, and this lunar cycle, creates a powerful force to let
go of constructs in our lives that no longer provide room for growth, movement
and expansion. In other words, we have grown as far as the limits imposed by
those constructs have permitted. It is now time to either begin to change those
constructs so they can allow a greater level of growth, expansion and
fulfillment, or to dismantle those constructs all together.
This last quarter
Jupiter-Saturn square, occurring now, impels movement and expansion away from
societal models, sociopolitical structures, and constructs in our personal
lives that have now become limiting and restricting to new growth, an energetic
set in motion throughout 2016, one that will continue throughout the last
quarter of this 20-year cycle, into 2020.
