The case of a young couple in Norway whose five
children were taken away by the state has fuelled mounting concern within the
country and abroad over its child protection practices. Protesters around the
world - and leading Norwegian professionals - say social workers are often too
quick to separate children from their families, with too little justification,
particularly when parents are immigrants.April 15 http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-36026458
The solar
eclipse of March 9 was not only conjunct
Ceres – the asteroid which governs the relationship between mother and
child – but placed significantly square the horizon axis at Oslo, Norway. Here
too as in the last post [1] the relationship between caregivers and their
charge is dysfunctional.
Let us go
back to the Saturn-Neptune square highlighted by the eclipse. Sometimes
Saturn-Neptune idealises (Neptune) the concept of responsibility (Saturn). Neptune’s
mythology is associated with water so that it is often linked to the need to be
compassionate and self sacrificing. Guilt is, therefore, very much a feeling
that one might attribute to this combination, but the guilt is often caused not
by real failure to cope with the material world and its obligations but by the
fact that the whole issue has been so exaggerated.
If we now
progress the eclipse chart to April 15, the date of the magazine article,
notice that the Saturn-Ceres-Neptune square straddles the meridian implying
that its dynamics would be highlighted.
In the
mundane horoscope of Norway [2], Ceres and Saturn are conjunct on the
descendant in Pisces – the sign ruled by Neptune. It is, therefore, no surprise
that the nation’s concept of parenting
is based on unrealistic idealism. With the progressed Sun [3li] currently in a quincunx
aspect to radix Saturn [3pi], there is now a need to correct the exaggerated
ideas of parental responsibility.
It may be
relevant to add at the end that the Sun in the 10th (government) is
in hard aspect to Ceres (Pisces) so that the government has taken on the role
of an idealistic surrogate parent. Moreover, the eclipse of March 9 has Ceres [15pi]
at the same position as Norway’s radix Ceres [15pi]. In addition the radix Sun
[15ge] which is at the “reaction” point – the empty leg of the eclipse T-square
is conjunct zeta (ζ) Auriga, Hoedus 1, is one of the Haedi, Kid Goats, an orange
star on the left arm of the Charioteer [3].
Diana
Rosenberg links the constellation Auriga with the care and nourishment of
children. But look carefully at the image of the Charioteer. While the mother
goat along with her two kids are on the left arm of the Charioteer, in his
right hand he carries a whip! Is this strange figure telling us that looking
after children may require us to ‘crack the whip’ once in a while?!
