The Hillsborough disaster was a human crush that
caused the deaths of 96 people and injured 766 others at a football match
between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield,
England, on 15 April 1989. The interim report in the 1989–90 official inquiry
into the disaster by Lord Taylor concluded that "the main reason for the
disaster was the failure of police control." A new inquest which, on 26
April 2016, returned a verdict that the supporters were unlawfully killed due
to deficiencies in policing and ambulance response on the day, as well as the
stadium's design, and reiterated that supporters were not to blame for the
deaths. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillsborough_disaster
According to
reports, the crush happened at around 3:00 pm at Hillsborough Stadium,
Sheffield, England, on 15 April 1989. Shown here is the chart for the event. On the meridian axis we have the TNP Admetus
opposite Pluto and TNP Cupido. Martha Wescott provides the following
interpretations:
Cupido-Admetus : claustrophobic
reaction to proximity with others in a group.
Admetus-Pluto: to
attempt to “hold back the tides”; to see that things have reached a critical
mass – in other words although one has been able to stand up under increasing
pressure, the burden finally becomes too great and there must be some release.
In his essay,
Pluto and the experience of depth,
Dane Rudhyar explains why Pluto rules crowd behavior and all that follows from
it.
All rituals,
bringing together a relatively large number of people to a state of
mass-feeling and behavior in which they act as an emotional undifferentiated
crowd, seek to arouse the power of man's common humanity. They are Plutonian
instrumentalities, especially whenever they operate in a nation which otherwise
seeks to foster and takes pride in the individualism of its citizens; for in
such cases there is no deeply effective Saturnian power to set traditional
limits to the behavior of what has become a totally irrational and
uncontrollable mob.
But why has
this chart been activated now? The first reason is that Mercury is stationing
to go retrograde on April 30 at 24 Taurus on the chart MC. Retrogrades often
refer to the past so that Mercury is bringing back the Hillsborough disaster to
the front pages of the news!
A second
reason comes from the chart of the last Full Moon of April 22. Notice that at
Sheffield, the Uranus-Pluto square straddles the meridian. The asteroids
Memoria and Orpheus conjoin Uranus while Pluto is with the asteroid Requiem.
REQUIEM: As well
as a connection to the ceremonies of death (and the formalization of grief,)
Requiem stands for a place of acceptance, a cessation of struggle. Whether one
should be AT PEACE with the people, actions and events shown by aspecting
points is the issue!
ORPHEUS: Sense of
mourning and loss; grief (for what you don't have—what has gone out of your
life-- “might have been” or what was);
contact with death.
MEMORIA: memories
Uranus acting
on Pluto has the effect of releasing what was buried.Putting the elements
together we can see why the Full Moon has brought a sense of closure to
memories of grief and death from the past.
