The Buddha from Babylon

Buddha teaching his disciples

Dramatic evidence has revealed the presence of Siddhartha Gautama, the man who became Buddha, as far west as Persia. Family seals and records found at Persepolis, the ancient capital of the fourth Persian Emperor, Darius the Great, have been identified and associated with the names of Siddhartha Gautama and his father, Suddhodana Gautama.   http://goo.gl/uZVnhU

The article by Harvey Kraft is an extract from his book The Buddha from Babylon. The book  is based on evidence that in the sixth century B.C.E. the seer-philosopher Siddhartha Gautama had gone to Babylon where he became a popular leader. But, after a mysterious assassination, as a Persian general seizes the throne and orchestrates a religious purge, Siddhartha must head back for the Indus where he finally achieves Perfect Enlightenment and unveils his cosmic vision of Existence.

In this post we will see how current eclipse charts can connect up to historical figures from the past. A chart for the solar eclipse of March 9 drawn for Monterey,California where the author Harvey Kraft,   is based has a powerful T-square on the angles.  The eclipse is on the descendant conjunct the star Achernar, alpha Eridanus linked to those who are successful in connection with religion and philosophy. The Sabian symbol for the eclipse degree [19pi] is  “A Master Instructing his Disciple”. We can already begin to see an outline of the Great Master here.

Based on her research, Diana Rosenberg gives the following data for the Buddha’s birth ( Full Moon  on May 11, 563 BCE OS 6:50:55 am GMT; Lumbini, Nepal). The precession corrected natal  Sun and Moon are at [18ge40] and [18sa40]. Notice that this aligns with the meridian of the eclipse chart.

Orion – The Conqueror

Buddha’s radix Sun is conjunct the stars Rigel, beta Orion and Hoedus 1 of Auriga. Orion is often depicted as a great Military Commander  while Hoedus is a star on one of  Kid Goats,  on the left arm of the Charioteer. About this area, Diana Rosenberg informs us that “many here become teachers…or may become particularly involved with children. Whether in a classroom or other position, at some point they need to recognize that they are role models for the next generation, and accept this as a joyful burden” [1]. Strangely this matches with the legend surrounding Buddha’s birth. Court astrologers  had predicted that the Prince would either be a great conqueror or a sage and teacher!

For the stars on the IC conjunct star she writes:

They possess penetrating minds that avoid being hemmed in by conventional thinking, along with a keen awareness of religious and philosophical issues. Gifted with unusual ability to elucidate abstruse ideas with clarity and simplicity. Because their beliefs are of primary importance in their lives, many become leaders and proselytizers, embarking on “crusades”, determined to reform their fields according to their learning and convictions.
