Russia
and the US have agreed to co-ordinate air strikes against Islamist militants in
Syria, part of a detailed agreement to reduce the violence there. The plan will
begin with a "cessation of hostilities" from sunset on Monday. Syrian
forces will end combat missions in specified opposition-held areas. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-37324872
The following extract explains the meaning of Jupiter’s
Libra ingress:
On September 9, 2016,
global Jupiter cruises into Libra, the sign of interpersonal harmony and peace.
And not a moment too soon: After a year of international turmoil, human rights
setbacks and political unrest, the diplomatic vibes of Libra are needed to help
restore equilibrium.
Historically, Jupiter
in Libra transits have even helped bring an end to war. In a previous cycle,
Jupiter entered Libra on August 25, 1945. Days later (on September 1, 1945),
World War II officially ended as Japan surrendered. The Oslo Accord—an effort
to legislate Middle East peace—was signed during Jupiter’s 1993 tour of Libra.
At the signing, Bill Clinton orchestrated a historical and heart-stirring
handshake between Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader
Yasser Arafat. Here’s hoping that Jupiter’s 2016-17 voyage into Libra will
awaken our desire for peace once again. http://astrostyle.com/jupiter-libra-2016/
A chart for the Jupiter ingress drawn for Geneva is shown
here. On the MC is the Sun amidst the
stars of Leo. The astrological influences of the constellation of the Lion
given by Manilius make it clear that it is connected to warfare:
"Who can doubt
the nature of the monstrous Lion, and the pursuits he prescribes for those born
beneath his sign? The lion ever devises fresh fights and fresh warfare on
animals, and lives on spoil and pillaging of flocks. The sons of the Lion are
filled with the urge to adorn their proud portals with pelts and to hang up on
their walls the captured prey, to bring the peace of terror to the woods, and
to live upon plunder.".
On the IC with Neptune are stars in the healing waters
pouring from the Urn of Aquarius, the Water bearer. Also here is the star
Achernar. Achernar, a great 1st- magnitude star in the southern sky
marks the end of Eridanus, the River flowing into the Universal Sea. Aratus
called Eridanus “The River of Many Tears”
and Diana Rosenberg links this to “peace
treaties”. As examples she mentions transits here when the Egypt-Israel
Peace Treaty was signed in 1979; at the Belfast
Irish Peace Accord of 1998; at the international appeal to “Pray for
Peace” in 1986 and when John F. Kennedy proposed the Peace Corps in 1960.
