It’s
hard to imagine Niccolò Machiavelli, Florence’s chancellor at the end of the
1400s, sneaking like a fugitive into a den of vice. Clad in simple clothes and
holding a candlestick, he would descend into the underground wine cellar of his
Chianti farmhouse, make his way through a secret underground passageway, and
pop out in a corner of a raucous tavern to drink wine, mingle with peasants and
wayfarers, and play cards with the butcher and innkeeper. March 24, 2017

Machiavelli's name is associated with treachery even today
with his statement, "The end justifies the means." In Machiavelli’s
[1] horoscope a prominent Saturn-Neptune
opposition aligned with the meridian is the defining aspect. The opposition is
part of a Grand Cross with the nodal axis. Neptune is a planet we link to secrecy,
deceit and treachery while Saturn is associated with political leaders so that Machiavelli
was certainly responding to this major configuration in his chart.
The BBC essay on Machiavelli is about the year 1512 , a period in his life when he
was banished from Florence for having betrayed the Medici family. At this time Saturn
was transiting over his Neptune on the MC. If we have been living Neptune
negatively e.g. a life of lies and treachery, then Saturn transits bring about
a period of reckoning when our lies our uncovered.
Now wait a minute haven’t we seen something like this happen to
our leaders recently? The defining
aspect of 2016 was a Saturn-Neptune square (which also appears significantly
placed on the meridian in Hillary’s solar return chart **).
Recall the hacking of Hillary Clinton’s emails and the efforts of the Democrats to spy on Trump and his team now being unveiled.
Shown here is a chart for the last exact square on 10th
September, 2016 between Saturn-Neptune drawn for London where the BBC essay
appeared. Notice the Saturn-Neptune square straddles the horizon axis here. And
now if we progress the chart to March 24, the date of the publication, we find
the square once again straddles the horizon triggering the square.
Is this just coincidence or a meaningful connection? An
essay tells us about Machiavelli and his
exile from Florence after his treachery is exposed. Around roughly the same
time (Sept '16 onwards) we see a leader like Hillary Clinton lose the presidential race because
voters see through her lies and deceit.
