Qatar row: Six countries cut links with Doha

Six Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Egypt have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of destabilising the region. They say Qatar backs militant groups including so-called Islamic State (IS) and al-Qaeda, which Qatar denies. The Saudi state news agency SPA said Riyadh had closed its borders, severing land, sea and air contact with the tiny peninsula of oil-rich Qatar. Qatar called the decision "unjustified" and with "no basis in fact". The unprecedented move is seen as a major split between powerful Gulf countries, who are also close US allies. It comes amid heightened tensions between Gulf countries and their near-neighbour Iran. The Saudi statement accused Qatar of collaborating with "Iranian-backed terrorist groups" in its restive Eastern region of Qatif and in Bahrain.  June 5 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-40155829

In a previous post [1],  I mentioned that the September 1, 2016 solar eclipse was a major cause of the disunity that has affected the Sunni Muslim countries after the Riyadh summit on May 21-22.  The mundane horoscope of Qatar (September 1, 1971,0:00 hrs) based on its independence from Britain as given by Nick Campion is reproduced here [2].  Notice that the eclipse fell on Qatar’s radix Sun impelling it  to move away from authoritarian control – an issue that is discussed in more detail in the previous post [1].

Qatar’s  solar return chart (precession corrected) is shown here. Notice the Sun-Saturn-Neptune-Node T-square straddling the horizon.  And if we now progress the return chart to May 21, 2017, the date of the Riyadh summit,  we find the T-square once again triggered by the progressed Ascendant.

Two other points are relevant here. On May 19, transit Sun [28ta44]  squared the Nodes [28 le-aq 44] – an aspect  known as Moon Wobble said to produce personal and political upheavals. The Nodal axis aligns perfectly with Qatar’s  radix meridian. Secondly,  the current New Moon [5ge] fell on Qatar’s radix Saturn [6ge] already receiving a sesquisquare aspect from progressed  Sun [21li] – an aspect frequently linked to trouble with elders and authority figures.  And finally today as the news of diplomatic ties with Qatar being cut by Saudi and its allies we have transit Mercury [27ta] squaring the nodal axis and radix Mercury [28le].
