There’s
been a lot going on this week, so it’s unsurprising that an extremely important
vote in Congress failed to get the attention it deserves. What I’m referring to
is the recent Russia/Iran/North Korea sanctions bill passed by the House of
Representatives in a frighteningly lopsided 419-3 vote.
The horoscope of a country is perhaps the most important mundane
chart ….more important than all the planetary ingress or eclipse charts used
routinely by astrologers. The Sibly is the chart for the US that has stood the
test of time. To explain the news, I begin with the solar return for the Sibly.
I draw my readers’ attention to the
Hades-Kronos-Sun-Mars-Jupiter-Zeus-Pluto T-square.
When war god Mars opposes Pluto, there is danger of an
overkill. If the lower levels of this aspect are being expressed, i.e., the
individual seeks to force the will upon
others for the sheer sake of power OVER others (out of integrity), the result
may vary from disappointment all the way to self destruction.
Jupiter is often
associated with various kinds of excess. In the case of Mars conjunct, square
or opposition Jupiter, this often manifests as overconfidence or excessive
aggression.
Pluto is placed in the 11th house which in
mundane astrology rules the Parliament [2]. Martha Wescott in her book The Orders of Light provides the
following interpretation for the elements of the T-square.
Hades-Pluto: To achieve
power over others by disenfranchising or demeaning them; decline through
compulsive-obsessive behavior; to recognize that ugliness is rooted in
resentment or a desire for revenge or power.
Kronos-Pluto: events show
that legalities, rules or attempts to set procedures are actually power
struggles or arise from resentments and a need to push others to their limits;
to be aware of the power of people in charge – and to see abuses of power
through misuse of office, position, laws or procedures.
But how do we know, that this combination was active on July
25, when the US Congress passed the sanction bill? In astrology, the angles are
everything. Events occur when progressed angles move over important configurations
in the chart. If we now progress the Sibly solar return to July 25, the
meridian conjoins Pluto thereby triggering the T-square!
