Astrology
is a meme, and it’s spreading in that blooming, unfurling way that memes do. On
social media, astrologers and astrology meme machines amass tens or hundreds of
thousands of followers, people joke about Mercury retrograde, and categorize
“the signs as ...” literally anything: cat breeds, Oscar Wilde quotes, Stranger
Things characters, types of french fries. In online publications, daily,
weekly, and monthly horoscopes, and zodiac-themed listicles flourish. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2018/01/the-new-age-of-astrology/550034/
In several previous posts I have emphasized the importance of
the sidereal Capricorn Ingress which astrologers have begun to refer to as the
Annual Chart. The article in The Atlantic
(published from Washington, DC) has
appeared on Jan.16, just a day after the sidereal Capricorn Ingress. A chart
for the ingress has a Pluto-Sun-Venus conjunction very significantly placed on
the IC square Uranus on the descendant. The dominating Uranus-Pluto square has
been referred to Ebertin as “the collapse of an old order and the beginning of
a new one”.
Dane Rudhyar in his book An
Astrological Triptych, described the function of Venus as follows:
With reference to the
evolution of actual earthly organisms and of human personalities, Venus
essentially symbolizes the factor of “value”. The Venusian function, at the
level of individual consciousness, enables man to discriminate between that
which has value for his individual growth and that which is valueless or
potentially destructive. “Feelings” are the immediate manifestation of
judgements of value – not mental judgements, but instinctual, organic,
emotional and inbred cultural-social-ethical judgements. Love and hatred,
attraction and repulsion, happiness and unhappiness, the emotional sense of
what is beautiful and what is ugly – all such oppositions result from the
judgement of value, in relation to the vital requirements of our body and our
soul. Once the individual begins to tread the Illumined Road, the Venus
functions begins to undergo a deep metamorphosis. During this Venus phase of “revaluation”,
the stress is upon a change of values; and that is what is figuratively meant
by the expression, “a change of heart”.
With Venus connected to “values” we can begin to understand
why the Uranus-Pluto square acting on Venus is about “a change of heart” as a
paradigm change begins to occur. But that is not all, conjunct Pluto is the
asteroid Urania which Martha Wescott links to “astrology”! And Uranus is the
ruler of the 5th house linked to children or the younger generation
so that it is no surprise that the Millennials are taking to astrology.
URANIA: Astrology; astronomy;
handling theoretical, hypothetical or abstract principles and information;
logic and rationality; ability to “see the big picture” and not be dissuaded by
instant details; an intellectual framework; apperception—intellectual “context.”
Bias and distortions to rationality and conceptual ability. https://marthalangwescott.com/basic-resources/
