Italy's
political turmoil tends to prove the wry old saying that "if voting
changed anything, they'd make it illegal". The country is facing a
mounting constitutional crisis amid calls for the president to be impeached
after he blocked the formation of a new government. The crisis seems to be
mainly about a clash over financial policy and a populist challenge to European
Union economic austerity, according to to the Financial Times. But lurking too is a concern among the EU
establishment in Brussels that a new populist Italian government is proposing
to radically restore friendly relations with Russia. That concern is no doubt

The news out of Italy over the last two days has the
potential to completely change the game as it could end in the destruction of
the EU. The original Euro Community was an admirable ideal as it emphasised the
rights of all citizens of member states, guaranteeing them a range of
protections from unjust and stupid demagogues. Unfortunately the neolib
corporatist globalists took over the machinery and turned it over to a gang of
cold-hearted technocrats who used the once estimable governance structure to
enforce a draconian monetarist policy.
Now Italy has finally jacked up and the EU, mimicking
American methods that have wreaked so much havoc upon the world, the EU has
bribed, blackmailed or extorted the Italian president Mattarella, into
destroying Italy's newly elected government just because he suspects this
government sees Italy's future outside the Franco-German dominated Eurozone.
To understand the dynamics between Italy and the EU we
will study the synastry. The Synastry Chart is the combination of two
individuals birth (or natal) charts overlayed on one another to give insight
into the dynamics of their relationship. More information about the interaction
between the individuals can be obtained
for a given period by comparing how the progressed angles and planets of one
person interact with the radix of the other.
We look at the two tables below. The first gives the aspects
made by the secondary progressed moon (1day=1 year) for the chart of
Italy. Notice that the Moon is moving
over the 8th house planets. In mundane astrology, the 8th
is the house connected with a country’s debt so here it refers to Italy’s
borrowings from the EU. The second table
shows that in the current period EU’s solar arc Pluto-Cupido-Mars form an
opposition to Italy’s 8th house Sun. Pluto energies often manifest
as an attempt to control or manipulate another. Here the EU is attempting to
force Italy to comply to its requirements. But with Sun-Uranus-Cupido forming a
hard aspect in Italy’s chart opposed by EU’s solarc Pluto, we have the following delineation from Martha
Wescott’s The Orders of Light:
Cupido-Uranus: ruptures with family or a group because of intolerance or a need to “live
one’s own life”.
Uranus-Pluto: to see disruptive behavior
based on emergent (formerly repressed) psychological content; to recognize that
a threat of a separation or demand for independence can bring vindictive
reactions or is based on an assertion of dominance (or attempt to regain control); to be aware
of disruption or events within friendship in connection with debt or shared
resources.
