Liberation day! EU’s General Data Protection Regulation comes into force

As from today you have the perfect excuse. “I haven’t been in touch because you didn’t respond to my last email – you know, the one where I said that you had to specifically opt in if you wanted further communications? Anyway, Mum, how was your week?”

Like most, I feel that the advent of GDPR – the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation – is a boon. Normally I ignore incoming emails but this just prompts people to send even more in the hope I’ll respond. But this week, ignoring emails has been a way to make them go away in the future. I’ve had pleading emails asking me to stay in touch with companies that have never emailed me before. (I checked.) Though I still seem to be getting emails from someone called “Jessica” asking “Are those your pictures? LOL we have to talk”. She doesn’t seem to have a privacy policy. The Capricorn Ingress charts (both tropical as well as sidereal) are important tools for mundane astrologers and are often treated as  annual charts. Presented here is the sidereal Capricorn Ingress chart drawn for Brussels, where the offices of the EU are located. Notice that the Sun activates the Uranus-Pluto square that aligns very significantly with the meridian axis.

The essence of Uranus in Aries square to Pluto in Capricorn of the 2010s  represent a crossroads for human civilization in terms of how societies are organized and run.  During this decade all the myriad facets of individual freedom (Uranus in Aries) as a human experience are juxtaposed against the many varieties of institutional power and control (Pluto in Capricorn).

Government agencies and business houses  collecting the communications data of individuals — phone calls, emails, texts, bank records, etc. – are infringing on an individual’s freedom. The goal of these agencies is to  seek to intercept, retrieve, store, and analyze everything communicated by everyone so as to better control our lives.

Finally when things become unbearable, individuals (Aries) stand up in protest against the oppressive influence of such institutions and force governments to come up with laws that better protect their freedom (Uranus).

Having understood the dynamics of the Uranus-Pluto square which is at the heart of the Capricorn Ingress chart let us turn our attention to a few details. On the MC  are the asteroids Atropos [14li] and Atlantis [18li]. Martha Wescott[1] provides the following definitions and delineation:

ATLANTIS: invasions of privacy; access to inside or confidential information; abuse of resources or information.

ATROPOS: Endings, completion, conditions at the finish, what is needed to conclude.

It is fairly simple to see  how the chart elements have come together in this case to bring about an ending (Atropos) to invasions of privacy (Atlantis) by institutions out to control (Pluto in Capricorn) individual freedom (Uranus in Aries).

But as always, the final test of whether the ingress chart was active on a particular date comes from checking its progression. Shown here is the ingress chart progressed to May 25, the date of the news. Notice that the Sun-Uranus-Pluto T-square that was on the meridian has now shifted to the horizon and is thereby triggered.
