Rescuers
are searching for survivors in the central Russian city of Magnitogorsk, where
an explosion devastated a block of flats, killing at least four people. Officials
in the city, in the Urals region, say a gas leak caused the blast. About 40
people are missing. President Vladimir Putin has arrived in the city to assess
the situation. The building was home to 120 people, and 48 flats collapsed in
the blast. It is a race against time to find survivors, as the temperature in
the industrial city is -17C. Few if any are expected to be pulled from the
rubble. The blast, at 06:02 local time (01:02 GMT) is thought to have ripped
through the first floor, which houses some offices, and the seven storeys above
then collapsed. Nearby flats were also damaged.

In mundane astrology, the cardinal ingresses of the Sun have
a traditional reputation as important
mundane events. Of these the Capricorn ingress of the Sun is considered the
master chart of the year.
A chart for the Capricorn Ingress at Magnitogorsk is
shown here. Notice that Uranus square the Nodal axis aligns with the horizon.
On the morning of Dec. 31, when the explosion occurred, the transit Moon
occupied the empty of the T-square opposite Uranus triggering the
configuration. In addition, the chart for the Last Quarter Moon of Dec. 29 also
carried the Uranus-Nodal axis T-square aligned with the meridian once again
emphasizing its role in the blast.
Moreover, Uranus
forms a semi-square aspect with Neptune. Among other things Uranus rules “explosions”
while Neptune rules “gas”. The national
chart of Russia (25 Dec. 1991; 5:20 pm GMT) has solar arc progressed Mars conjunct Uranus-Neptune (see
table below) now activated by the upcoming solar eclipse of Jan. 6 aligning
with the conjunction. The asteroid Orpheus which Martha Wescott links with
death also conjoins Uranus-Neptune.
