Most
veterans believe the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not worth fighting, and
a majority also view U.S. military efforts in Syria as too costly in dollars
and casualties, according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center released
Wednesday (July 10). In a survey of nearly 1,300 veterans conducted in May and
June, 64 percent of those surveyed said the war in Iraq was not worth fighting,
as opposed to just 33 percent who said the security benefits outweighed the
sacrifices. https://bit.ly/2XVMcZb
The US Sibly solar return chart accurately reflects the mood
of the nation. The Sibly Sun conjoins the North Node and is opposite Saturn-Pluto
and the South Node.
The South Node of the Moon symbolizes past patterns of
behavior that have outlived their usefulness and need to be discarded. Here the
South Node is conjunct Saturn-Pluto amid stars of the Archer and the Eagle both
easily recognizable symbols of war. On the other hand, the North Node, which
represents the way forward is amid stars
of sidereal Gemini linked to co-operation, trade and commerce. The US can opt to repeat patterns of the past that
have led to failures or choose to take a
completely new and progressive path.
The second important configuration in the chart is the
Jupiter-Neptune square [1] on the
angles. Astrologers associate this combination with over-extension followed by
disillusionment. There is a recognition that one has hit “rock bottom” with an
addictive or self-defeating pattern, and needs to get out of it. The “god of
war” Mars makes hard aspects to the
Jupiter-Neptune combination so that the over-extension followed by disillusionment
is rightly in connection with war.
