Charts for the phases of the Moon are among the most reliable indicators of events on earth. This is especially so at places where they make hard aspects to the horizon or meridian. For readers who are unfamiliar with astrology, Moon phases act as  local “step down transformers” for powerful energies generated by far away stars and planets that they aspect.

The tragic event reported in the news comes just as the Moon enters the Waning Crescent phase. At Grays, Essex the chart for the Moon phase has the luminaries in hard aspect to the horizon. The Sun[1sc] is conjunct the star Miaplacidus [2sc].

Miaplacidus, Beta Carina of Argo Navis, is the second brightest and most important star of the Argo—the first being Canopus, Alpha Carina (the helmsman). Miaplacidus is of navigation, migration or pilgrimage to places appropriate for safety and harmony; and of creating spaces of harmony for a new birth in life. More succinctly, it can inspire traveling and exploring, or moving to different locations on the Earth at different times in our lives that support our evolutionary fulfillment. https://www.lunarplanner.com/LunarMonths2013/lunarmonth.13.09.05.html

But the Sun is opposite Uranus [4ta] which is conjunct the star Sharatan, beta Aries. All the three stars in the head of the Ram (the other two are Hamal and Mesarthim) can cause people to be impulsive and take risks that lead to disasters. Moreover, since the Sun is conjunct the asteroid Lacrimosa (death) and Uranus is with Proserpina (leaving home; going away)…the likelihood of an impulsive move that leads to death increases.

Finally, we note that Jupiter in Sagittarius makes a hard aspect to Uranus. Jupiter is the big planet, linked to travel and new horizons and Uranus is spontaneous and unpredictable. Both planets together  represent the desire to travel for space and freedom.

A surprising confirmation of our analysis comes from the Sabian symbol for Jupiter [22sg01]
