Astrologers believe that planetary positions at the moment
of a person’s birth (more generally any event) represent a “seed pattern,” a
set of “celestial instructions” about how the individual’s life (or the timeline
of the event) can potentially unfold. They suggest the kinds of experiences and
actions that may be necessary to fulfill the promise of the birth or event
chart.

Notice that the war started with a Saturn-Pluto opposition that aligned very
significantly with the meridian at Baghdad.
In his monumental work Cosmos
and Psyche, Richard Tarnas describes the effect of Saturn-Pluto cycles.
Tarnas stresses that astrology is archetypally but not concretely predictive.
In other words, astrology cannot explicitly predict the future, but it can predict
the future's archetypal resonance.
A Saturn-Pluto synodic
cycle, in general, will be about societal structures of consciousness and how
we learn about responsible use of power. It will be about our administrative
systems governing the use of power. These cycles can also initiate a
dismantling or destructive process of long-standing established administrative
constructs and systems of belief so that we can evolve our societal structures.
In the process, this can articulate as power struggles, wars and the like; but
Saturn and Pluto will ultimately demand we take responsibility for the discord
and destruction we have created.
The negative
Saturn-Pluto manifestation is linked to the trauma and crisis of war, the
efficiently organized violence and deployment of vast destructive power, the
victimization of the powerless, the mass death and end of innocence…….the
deployment of violence and terror under the guise of moral rightness, a just
cause, God’s will, national security, law and order – the harsh repression by
an established government, the objectifying of the other, the radical splitting
between good self and evil enemy.
One of techniques employed by astrologers to “predict” the
future is the use of the birthday or solar return chart. This chart is drawn
for the exact moment, the Sun returns to the position it occupied in the original
birth or event chart.
Here is the current solar return chart for the Iraq War. Notice
that there is a Saturn-Pluto conjunction on the meridian. This conjunction marks
the end of the previous cycle and the beginning of a new one. Now it will
become abundantly clear which foundations in our society have become too
fragile to offer reliable stability. Corrections are inevitable. Where these
are denied, fierce confrontations are to be expected.
As an extension of
the solar return chart technique, astrologers routinely progress the chart to
identify days on which the radix configurations will show up in events.
Progressing the chart to Jan. 1, brings the Saturn-Pluto alignment to the
horizon thereby triggering it. The meridian and the horizon are the two important
axes where events occur. The karmic consequences of the misuse of power are
evident in the event that has occurred at the US embassy in Baghdad.
