Astrology of the Turkish lira crisis

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government announced extraordinary measures to bolster the Turkish lira, including the introduction of a new program that will protect savings from fluctuations in the local currency. https://bit.ly/3pgQY4M

Eclipses can cause major upheavals in areas occupied and ruled by the planets they aspect. The solar eclipse of December 4 was conjunct Mercury and square Neptune. Neptune is placed in the 2nd house which it also rules. The 2nd house oversees “the nation's assets and financial status” [1]. Mercury is the lord of the 8th house. The 8th house in mundane astrology rules “the national debt” and “financial relations with foreign countries” [2] so that by association it rules the international exchange value of the local currency.

A square aspect between Mercury and Neptune rulers of 8th and 2nd house therefore represents a crisis in the exchange value of the national currency.

As always, it is important to look at planets that occupy the angles. Here we notice the money planet Venus on the Ascendant is moving towards a conjunction with Pluto, the planet of upheavals. On December 19, Venus stationed retrograde conjunct Pluto intensifying the crisis which Turkey is now forced to resolve.

The second set of of planets that aspect the angles are Saturn and Uranus. Saturn squares Uranus which is on the IC in the money sign Taurus once again ruled by Venus. About the Saturn-Uranus square, I have written in earlier posts:

In the best case scenario the tension between Saturn and Uranus brings about changes that need to happen and the obstacles, roadblocks, and resistance to that change, eventually wake us up to face the truth, address the breakdown, break away from a bad situation, or fix what isn’t working.
