Synastry is a method of comparing two or more horoscopes. This makes it possible to find the interaspects, i.e. the aspects between the planets and axes of one horoscope to another one. It is an effective and easily understood method, and it can be combined with predictive tools such as progressions and transits. In this post we use synastry to understand developments in the relationship between the Russia and Germany.
The current chart for Russia is set for December 25, 1991, at 5:20 pm GMT in Moscow [1]. Several charts have been proposed for Germany but the map for the proclamation of William I as German Emperor, January 18, 1871; 1 pm LMT; Versailles is recommended by the English astrologer C.E.O. Carter.
Beginning with Germany’s chart, we immediately notice transit Pluto moving over the radix Sun [28cp] in 9th house opposite Uranus [24cn].
In his book Mundane Astrology; H.S. Green has:

Sun in 9th house: Foreign trade
We are already seeing a possible loss of friends and foreign trade.
Next using solar arcs we find that Germany’s progressed Sun [27ge] is currently beginning to form hard aspects to Russia’s Admetus [14ta] and Zeus [28vi]. Martha Wescott’s keywords for Admetus are “delays, obstacles and even blockages”. For Zeus she has “fuels”. Putting the pieces together we have the possibility of loss of friends and foreign trade over blockage of fuels!
Since transit Pluto is moving opposite the radix Uranus:
Uranus-Pluto: to see power struggles between friends; to be aware of disruption or events within friendship in connection debt or finances. (remember Pluto is associated with debt/ finances as ruler of Scorpio and Uranus is linked to friends through its association with Aquarius)
Finally, we notice that on the very day the German Chancellor spoke to Putin, a Venus-Saturn conjunction was occurring on the 7th house cusp (contracts) of the Russia chart.
