Gautama Buddha: History in the stars

The modern scholarly consensus for the dates of the Buddha, since c. 1906 CE, has been c. 563 - c. 483 BCE based on external evidence such as Jain texts, Ashoka's reign, and astronomical calculations as well as probable dates for the founding of Buddhist schools of thought.

There is a strong tradition that Buddha was born on a Full Moon day in May. Based on a general agreement among most scholars that the Buddha was born in 563 BCE, in her book Secrets of the Ancient Skies, Diana Rosenberg gives May 11, 563 BCE OS; 6:51 am UT as data for the May Full Moon. Here is the chart for the Full Moon drawn for Lumbini where the Buddha was born. Notice the conjunction of the Sun with Pluto and the TNP Poseidon on the MC.

Pluto-Poseidon is a combination that is associated with a complete transformation of spiritual ideas. This is certainly a concept we can link with the Buddha who was against rituals and the prevailing ideas about the worship of deities for salvation.

The Sun [12ta56] is conjunct the star Rigel of Orion [11ta11].

Rigel is the seventh-brightest star in the sky and is located in the left foot of Orion. According to BRADY (2008, p. 211), it is an active and educational star of learning and teaching. It symbolises the concept of development. Rigel’s driving force is to bring order to a place where there is disorder. This star wants to gain wisdom and knowledge and to spread it to others for the benefit of all. [1].

Closer to the Sun are Hoedus I, zeta Auriga [13ta03] and Hoedus II, eta Auriga [13ta51]. These are the Haedi, Kid Goats, stars on the left arm of the Charioteer. About this area, Diana Rosenberg informs us that “many here become teachers…or may become particularly involved with children” [2].

Auriga is the heavenly charioteer who brings guidance from an unbiased spiritual perspective that breaks a stronghold of the dramatics of the political-religious factions fighting in physical physical trenches of life. The stars of Auriga provide inspiration to mobilize what otherwise would be a rather sluggish process [3]. Strangely, in the Pali Canon among numerous other titles and epithets for the Buddha are Dispeller of darkness and Foremost of charioteers!

The following is the the timeline of major events in Buddha’s life [4]

You have this desire to search for answers and uncover your life’s purpose. You tend to be restless as if your soul is looking and waiting for a revelation. What you experience in this period are all signs of awakening. Your soul urges you to have a strong connection to it. It is calling you to look deep inside you and be aware of the subtle signs the Universe is giving you. It is also time to re-evaluate your relationships. It would help if you determined those connections that don’t serve you a purpose anymore. https://www.spiritual-galaxy.com/pluto-transit-on-natal-north-node/

533BC Meditation: Magadha 532–528BC Asceticism: Uruvelā

534 - 532 BC: prog. Sun conjunct Neptune = Mercury/Saturn; transit Saturn conj. Sun

This is indeed a combination suitable for asceticism and meditation usually along traditional lines (Saturn). Neptune [11ge] is conjunct the stars Canopus [10ge] and Sirius [9ge].

Conjoining stars include the very prominent stars Sirius of Canis Major and Canopus of Argo Navis. Sirius, Alpha Canis Major, is the impetuous and blazing Great World Teacher, knowledge-holder of ancient hermetic wisdom. Significant alignments with Sirius can bring teachings, lessons, or events of a global or profound proportion, those that can catalyze tremendous evolutionary change. Canopus, Alpha Carina of Argo Navis, is the second brightest star in the heavens after Sirius, and conjoins Sirius from the south. As a galactic equatorial star, Canopus is director / navigator of the Argo (Jason and the Argonauts)—of the greater galactic mission of souls in our solar system. [5]

Transiting Saturn returning to its natal place and then conjoining the Sun is considered an extremely important milestone in life. [6]

Saturn is called "The Ruler of Destinies" because it has the feature to materialize the potential of the person. Your persistence and dedication will be very important, during this transit. Saturn's transit marks the start of a new beginning in our life. We become more focused, responsible and disciplined whether we want it or the outer circumstances impose that. By the end of the transit you may acquire authority, power and an influential position, but none of that will be given to you for free [6]

528 BC Awakening: Bodh Gayā
