Perseus freeing Andromeda (Rubens)
The upcoming solar and lunar eclipses emphasize the Saturn square the South Node. Saturn is in platonic and idealistic Aquarius clashing with the South Node in intense and passionate Scorpio, creating a crisis from which a new level of consciousness could arise. Terrible dark events from the past often arising from our unwillingness to accept the primitive and shadow side of human nature may have frozen us producing an atmosphere of seriousness, loss of perspective, gloom and suspicion in relationships.
With the South Node in Scorpio, we are being asked to recognize the dysfunction with traits that need to be purged. It can show up as a maladaptive way of approaching life armor first, hurting others because we are hurt, or simply a protracted sense of woundedness or shame that keeps us stuck, unable to fully embody ourselves in relationships.
Here Saturn which seeks depth in the social air sign Aquarius conflicts with the taboos of the passionate and intense Scorpio South Node. This combination “presses the psyche, individual or collective, towards the forging of a deeper and stronger structure of moral consciousness” based on new values that incorporate the rejected or primitive side of man.
The stars Botein, Rana and Zaurak that form the backdrop to the North Node symbolize the way forward. About these stars, Nick Fiorenza writes :
(these stars)..articulate the theme of those lost or tired through their initiations stopping either in need of aid or for regeneration in preparation for what is yet to come...Andromeda’s fate is now out of the hands of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia and is being transferred to her beloved Perseus. Perseus is about to slay Medusa to claim his self-mastery prior to his being able to step into his intended soul destiny to be capable of helping anyone else. Perseus must slay Medusa (his inner fears), lest he turn to stone (become frozen with fear). Here we must trust our inner heart light despite the fear that the way is not entirely visible.
In the current context, think of the chained Andromeda as symbolizing humanity enslaved to the moral rules of the establishment (King Cepheus..Andromeda’s father). If Perseus who symbolizes the hero in each one of us is to succeed in freeing Andromeda he must slay Medusa.In the story of the Royal Family, when Perseus slew Medusa out of her neck sprang the beautiful winged white horse Pegasus. White represents purity or innocence and the wings of mythical Pegasus refer to the ability to fly thereby defying gravity which is a symbol of what holds us down - the rules of conventional order.
It will be important to realize that when we let go of the perspectives, dreams and plans conditioned by our internalising the rules of society, we can refocus on new directions that will lead to needed innovations and reforms. But for this, we must develop strength, order and self-discipline and “personal and collective determination, intensely focused, silent, strenuous effort in the face of danger and death,” and “a deepening capacity for moral discernment born from experience and suffering.”
At the end I wish to give an example of how the eclipses are showing up in the news. Here is a chart for the solar eclipse drawn for San Francisco where Twitter is headquartered. Notice that eclipse with Uranus is conjunct the MC while the Saturn-Nodal axis square completes a Grand Cross with the horizon. So obviously the energies of the eclipse are working here. If South Node Scorpio refers to a need to get out of control issues and Aquarius is about social networks can we begin to see why Twitter is in the crosshairs of this eclipse.
In a previous post [1], I discussed Elon Musk and his attempt to reform Twitter which had been censoring free speech (Andromeda chained?). Elon Musk (b. 28 June 1971) has a radix Sun-Uranus, the hall mark of a rebel hero (Perseus?) Here is the chart for the lunar eclipse at Pretoria, his birthplace. Is it a coincidence that the eclipse aligns with the horizon and straddles the Saturn-Nodal axis square?
And finally here is the lunar eclipse chart for Kiev, Ukraine. Notice Saturn on the MC and the perfect alignment of the eclipse T-square straddling the meridian. Russia’s denazification drive is primarily meant to free the Ukranians from the unconstituional takeover of the country in 2014 by the Ukronazis.
