Hurricane Ian continues to strengthen ahead of landfall. As of 0733 ET, the National Hurricane Center said Ian's sustained maximum winds were 155 mph, just 2 mph shy of a Cat. 5 storm
In her article A Basic Guide to Astrometeorology, Kim Farnell explains the use of maps for the cardinal ingresses of the Sun (entry into the four cardinal signs/ constellations, i.e. 00 deg of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn ) for forecasting the weather[1]. The event in the news has occurred in the current Libra quarter. A chart for the Libra ingress of the Sun drawn for Sarasota Florida is shown here. On the Ascendant is the Arabic lunar mansion Al-Sharatain [03ta 28 to 21ta07].
Arabs said Al Sharatain brought “whirlwinds:” planets transited these stars when in 1991, a massive cyclone with 145 mph winds hit Bangladesh; in 1955 a record of 110 tornadoes in 3 days hit 6 states – a monstrous twister hit Blackwell,OK killing 19, then obliterated Udall, KS killing 82; in 1969 Category 5 Hurricane Camille hit the Gulf Coast leaving 400 dead; in1999 tornadoes hit Oklahoma and Kansas; the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 hit Florida.
Other major historical storms occur under these stars: a Bay of Bengal cyclone that hit Calcutta in 1864, killing 50,000; the 1881 Haifong China cyclone (thousands died) and the Canton typhoon of 1862, a huge cyclone hit Ganges delta in 1970 killing 300,000 – 500,000; the 1999 tornadoes that hit Oklahoma and Kansas. This was Mars at a 1992 solar eclipse, two months before Hurricane Andrews devastated Florida and at 2005 perigee Full Moon before Hurricane Katrina demolished New Orleans; Jupiter at the 1928 Lake Okeechobee hurricane that killed 5000 and many others.[2]
