Pluto station: Dionysus vs Apollo

Dionysus vs Apollo

An ex-policeman has killed at least 37 people, most of them children, in a gun and knife attack at a childcare centre in north-east Thailand.Police say he then killed himself and his family after a manhunt following the attack in Nong Bua Lamphu province...Headteacher Nanticha Panchum said the attacker's son attended the centre but had not been there for a month. The man used to drop his child off, and was always polite and chatty, she said. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-63155169

Many events can be explained by what astrologers call the station point. This term refers to the period when a planet slows down and stands relatively still before changing directions, and either starts going backward ("retrograde") or forward ("direct"). Think "station" as in stationary, in other words.

While many astrologers look to the station point primarily for what it tells us about when and where a planet is changing direction, stations possess another level of meaning that's often overlooked, and which could be even more important in symbolism than its role as a directional marker. Why? Because in the process of slowing down and grinding to a seeming halt, the influence of that planet is dramatically amplified. Matters that may have been stewing below the level of consciousness break out into a full rolling boil.

The tragic news from Thailand comes to us just as Pluto in Capricorn stations to go direct. A map for the Pluto direct station drawn for Uthai Sawan, Thailand has it placed in the 5th house which rules children and schools [1] so that this becomes the area where its explosive energy is felt.

In astrology, an essential quality of Capricorn (and its ruler Saturn) is that of preservation, as well as endurance within the midst of laws that cause extreme hardship or austerity. Both Capricorn and Saturn symbolize systems and structures which seek to preserve their dominance at any cost. On the other hand, Pluto, the God of the underworld, aims to reveal all that is repressed.

Pluto in Capricorn can be likened to a rocky layer holding back the seething magma in a volcano. At some point the magma breaks through and we have a volcanic eruption. In much the same way Pluto can express as a “volcanic eruption” of repressed psychic contents. When Pluto is active in collective or personal events, an old order begins to die and fall away, and hopefully a new way of life emerges from the debris.

The attacker Panya Kamrab, was a police sergeant before he was dismissed for drug use. The use of drugs is frowned upon by “civilized” society and the laws in place can be extremely harsh on anyone who indulges in “drugs”.

In ancient Greece, Apollo and Dionysus  were both worshipped as equally important, despite representing nearly opposing values and orientations. Apollo was the god of light, reason, harmony, balance and prophesy, while Dionysus was the god of wine, revelry, ecstatic emotion and tragedy. Tragic events like this news from Thailand say more about our dysfunctional society than they do about the individual who commits the horrific crime.

Finally here is the chart for the reported time of the event (Oct.6; 5:30 am GMT). Notice TNP Zeus square Pluto straddling the meridian. Martha Wescott interprets Pluto-Zeus as “radical events involving guns”.
