Devastating earthquake hits Türkiye

A massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck central Türkiye early Monday morning, followed by several powerful aftershocks that were felt all across the region. The jolts caused widespread destruction, knocking down multiple residential buildings, according to disturbing footage captured by survivors. The quake happened around 4:16 am local time and was centered some 30 kilometers from Gaziantep, a major provincial capital with a population of over 2 million people. https://www.rt.com/news/571010-turkiye-earhquake-buildings-collapse/

Mundane Astrology is the application of astrology to world affairs and world events, taking its name from the Roman word Mundus, meaning "the World". Among the horoscopes used are those of eclipses, ingresses, lunations, exact planetary aspects etc. Like in any other branch of astrology, the four angles created by the horizon and meridian are of paramount importance. The four important angles on a chart are the Ascendant (cusp of the 1st house) Descendant (cusp of the 7th house), Midheaven (cusp of the 10th house) and IC (cusp of the 4th house). Planets and star constellations aligned with or aspecting these angles always leave their mark on events.

Presented here the Feb. 5th Full Moon chart drawn for Gaziantep. Notice the Sun-Moon-Uranus T-square making hard aspects to the horizon and meridian implying that Gaziantep was in the bullseye for the shattering Uranus energy.

The unanimous consensus among astrologers is that the planet Uranus is empirically ssociated with the principle of change, rebellion, freedom, liberation, reform and revolution, and the unexpected breakup of structures; with sudden surprises, revelations and awakenings, lightning-like flashes of insight, the acceleration of thoughts and events; with births and new beginnings of all kinds; and with intellectual brilliance, cultural innovation, technological invention, experiment, creativity, and originality.

The Turkey earthquake is an example of the destructive aspect of Uranus. But Uranus destruction can bring new beginnings. It can inspire us to break free from patterns, new or old, that inhibit personal freedom—revolutionaries everywhere are activated by this influence to liberate themselves from whatever tyranny is holding them hostage.

Hopefully we will see some of these positive manifestations of the Uranus energy in the month following the Full Moon.

PS:

Astrologers routinely cast charts of exact planetary aspects for a place to understand how the energy is focused at the place. As always planetary configurations aligned with the angles tell us what energies are significant at that place. Here is the chart for the exact Venus/Mars square on Feb. 5th drawn for Gaziantep. Notice Uranus on the IC activated by the Moon moving towards its fullness.

In his book National or Mundane Astrology, for Uranus on the IC (4th house cusp)  H.S. Green has:  "fall of buildings”

For Advanced Students

Let us recall the doctrine of Subsumption: horoscopes fall into a hierarchial order, each with less field as one descends, but yet itself being the dominant horoscope of others yet lower down the scale. So for example a cardinal ingress chart is higher up in the hierarchial order compared to a lunation.

Presented here is the chart for the last Cancer ingress of the Sun (21st June 2022) drawn for Gaziantep . All mundane charts can be progressed by any of the well known methods. If we progress the Cancer ingress chart by the Wynn Key Return method to the date and time of the Feb. 5th Full Moon notice how the Uranus-Full Moon aligns with the angles.

Now for a moment let us go back to the ingress chart. On the Ascendant is the star Benatnash. Amongt events connected to this area, Diana Rosenberg has: “ëarthquakes” and for those conjunct Neptune on the descendant : “natural disasters of great power”.
