The BRIC acronym, a concept floated for the first time more than a decade ago in 2001, represents the loose grouping of Brazil, Russia, India and China. The idea was coined by Goldman Sachs in a paper as part of an economic modelling exercise to forecast global economic trends over the next half-century. The main finding was that the BRICS would play an increasingly important role in the global economy.
The move towards formalisation of the group was concretised when the BRIC leaders held their first summit on 16 June 2009 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, calling for a more democratic and multipolar world based on the rule of international law, equality, mutual respect, cooperation, co-ordinated action, and collective decision making of all states.
A noon horoscope drawn for 16 June 2009 can be considered as the horoscope of BRICS. What opportunity does the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius trine the Sun offer?
Jupiter is the grand optimist, unwilling to fix his gaze on too short-sighted a goal… not when there are so many other vaster possibilities, reasons to remain upbeat, inspiring lessons to be learned from even the most harrowing tests. When we see only drudgery ahead, Jupiter opens our eyes to the overriding contextual meaning behind the drudging. And in Aquarius, he is particularly attuned to a systemic view on life, enthused by the logic of each individual playing his/her unique part in the cosmic symphony that is humanity, eager to promote idealism that suits the needs of the social whole.
The conjoined mix of Jupiter and Neptune merely expands upon this upswing of group communality and collaborative thinking (Aquarius) , inviting us to take deep faith in our ability to move mountains through sheer unity . Under its hopeful umbrella, we can envision ourselves joining forces, serving our individual duties and, together, bolstering this saggy balloon back to its inflated heights. As long as we believe, anything is possible…
With the radix Sun fuelled by the powerful trine of Jupiter-Neptune in Aquarius, BRICS can establish the framework of a new system bypassing Bretton Woods and the interlocking coercion mechanisms of the US.
Next we look at the synastry between the BRICS and the US Sibly.
What immediately catches our attention is the BRICS Sun [25ge] square Uranus [26pi] completing a T-square with the Sibly Neptune [24vi] and Mars [22ge] . The current Neptune transit [27pi] triggers this T-square.
Uranus ruled people are often the ones who initiate major changes in the way people see or do things. Their primary motivation is to make changes either in their lives or in the lives of others.
Events ruled by Uranus often come unexpectedly and surprise the person. These events are not something anyone can be prepared for. Sometimes these events clear the path for new things and in some cases they bring devastation into people’s lives changing them forever.
When Uranus is making challenging aspects with other planets it initiates accidents, revolutions, catastrophes, money loss, bankruptcy, reformations, destruction, and similar matters. It rules major transformations in society.
Neptune in astrology rules, confusion, illusions, disorganization, lies, addictions, deceptions, secrets, isolation, scandals, etc.
With the BRICS Sun/Uranus in hard aspect to the US Sibly Neptune we begin to see that the revolution or reforms being brought about by BRICS is likely to expose the US lies and deception possibly resulting in major changes in the way the world functions.
Going further we note that the BRICS solar arc Pluto [15cp] has been triggering the Sibly Sun [13cn] - Saturn [15li].
Liz Greene describes a Pluto-Saturn synastry interaction as below:
The effect of a Pluto-Saturn interaction in synastry is often very dramatic. There is usually the sense of a battle of wills for Saturn will first attempt to dominate the situation by asserting his control. Pluto can afford to sit still and wait because his word is irrevocable and in the end he always wins. Something is usually destroyed in the Saturnian as a result of the confrontation. He may find that it is necessary to completely reevaluate himself and understand his own defensiveness because his defenses are useless against Pluto’s energy. The person whose Pluto is involved will usually initiate the end of a phase of life and the beginning of a new one for the Saturn person.
Since the Sibly Sun is conjunct the asteroids Siva and Psyche the following commentary from Martha Wescott describes how the BRICS Pluto is affecting this combination:
Pluto/Siva/Psyche
A string of events whose purpose is to "destroy what a person does because of their control needs" (and I mean their desire to control or dominate others) My thinking is that there's a certain radical element to this--and signs of it may include "rages...that are out of control ...that come from psychological scars...that are an attempt to "push" at or manipulate others...and that have rather devastating results." Another way to characterize this would be to say that there's a point at which rigid "control" and the need to dominate or extract revenge becomes self-destructive.
I think you'll hear of psychological breakdown --some destructuring of a person's emotional walls and defenses. And if I haven't said that people can feel "emotionally blind-sided" by situations that are out of their control--and where there's nothing they can do about them, I sure meant to indicate that!
