Pluto in Aquarius and the Sino-American Chip War

The US has waged a chip war against China to stifle the latter's technological progress in cutting-edge areas, but doubts and a backlash over the potential consequences have been growing as Washington's strategic mistake looms increasingly larger and high-tech industry players in the US fear becoming casualties in the self-defeating war.

In this post we examine the horoscopes of China and the US in the light of Pluto’s entry into Aquarius.

Pluto — the planet signifying transformation — moved into the sign of Capricorn in 2008. On March 23, 2023, Pluto moves into Aquarius, where it will stay until it enters Pisces on March 8, 2043. Pluto in Aquarius represents some of the most profound times in history when the center (be it personal, psychological, cultural, governmental, political, financial, or otherwise) is unable to hold. That is what happens by archetypal design when Pluto moves through Aquarius. The focus shifts from the center to the margins, of society and psyche as it did during and after the French Revolution. Pluto moved through Aquarius from April 1777 to December 1798, a remarkable period of history that included the French Revolution.

Before the revolution, French society was structured on a centuries-old tradition of hierarchy based on inheritance and privilege. Inequality was built into the system — for centuries. Atop the hierarchy was the king, the centerpiece of the kingdom, sitting on his throne, holding absolute power invested in him by God, monarch (“one who rules alone”) by divine design, shining like the Sun. (Note:compare this with the US imperialism..and a “god given” right to plunder other nations.) Underneath the king was the aristocracy, the nobility, living in luxury, receiving special status before the law, paying very few taxes or no taxes at all, and making up 1% of the population. The Enlightenment saw the emergence of a plethora of new ideas, philosophies, and fresh possibilities for how human beings can thrive in society and live happy lives. https://tinyurl.com/y7222yee

Pluto in Aquarius shows us particularly clearly where there is inequality, injustice and lack of freedom. We currently live in a collective plutocracy, where it is no longer politics that determines what happens, but very powerful corporations. Some of these string pullers in the background are not even known to the public. With Pluto's entry into Aquarius, things will not automatically get better, but the world's focus will shift to these issues. At the end of a hard road, the world should be much fairer, more equal and freer than it was until the early 2020s.

Radix Pluto in the US chart is in the last degrees of Capricorn [27cp]. The precession corrected Pluto [0aq59] has moved into Aquarius and is conjunct China’s Ascendant [1aq52]. China’s Ascendant is square its radix Hades [28ar]. Transit Pluto will be moving over China’s Ascendant triggering these placements.

Superimpose China’s radix chart on the US Sibly and in the bi-wheel you can see how the radix Sibly Pluto/Hades square completes a T-square with China’s Ascendant/Hades square. Recall that China’s Hades is in “freedom loving and independent” Aries over which the North Node (the way forward) is currently transiting. Among keywords for the TNP Hades, Martha Wescott includes “research”. The South Node (behaviour patterns to leave behind) has been moving over the US Hades in Scorpio (vindictiveness, jealousy etc.)

With the Pluto conjunct ascendant synastry aspect, abuse can also be present in the relationship. The Pluto person can try to obsessively control the ascendant person. They feel that controlling the other person is the best way to prevent eventual betrayal. Some form of violence cannot be excluded when an afflicted Pluto is in play.

Hades/Pluto

In addition to seeing that control needs and psychological complexity can cause situations to "take a nose dive" (enter a difficult period,) . In other words, out of their own lack, a person can "mess" with others (think US messing with China’s chip imports) in a psychologically canny (or financial) way. So you'll see a number of facets of "The Revenge of the Nerds"!

Scenarios where "bad" circumstances (Hades) or individuals offer a challenge to one's integrity, to one's ability to "stand tall" and remain true to themselves (Pluto); as a challenge to control or in connection with money (and its vices;) to see degradation attempts as a ploy for power or as "revenge;" to experience disgust with shrewdness or manipulative efforts.
