Astrology of the Nova AT 2023prq

Astronomers from the Liverpool John Moores University have performed photometric and spectroscopic observations of a recently discovered nova, known as AT 2023prq. Results of the observational campaign, published in the November issue of the Research Notes of the American Astronomical Society (AAS), shed more light on the nature of this nova.

A nova is a star experiencing a sudden increase in brightness and slowly returning to its original state, a process that could last many months. Such an outburst, which releases an immense amount of energy, is the result of the accretion process in a close binary system containing a white dwarf and its companion.

A White Dwarf is born when a star becomes exhausted and can no longer continue its nuclear fusion, yet, its own gravity prohibits its seemingly unavoidable collapse. A contradictory physical phenomenon prevents stellar collapse despite the lack of outward motion generally attributed to nuclear fusion.

In his book The Soul of the Sky, Philip Sedgwick explains the psychological significance of a Nova and a White Dwarf:

The Novae (or nova, which means “new”) notes the death of a star. Such a death symbolizes the period of grief and mourning for the previous psychology, now deleted. A needed time of sanction is required before the death spawns the next life form. What we know is that the previous way of being is gone. So we endure a transitional phase in our evolution.

White Dwarfs represent the collapse of the little ego, the attenuation of one's faulty psychology. In many Eastern Mysticisms initiates must relinquish the ego for the sake of the soul. The galactic analogue for this sacrifice comes from the White Dwarf. On a more western level, the process consists of going through the ego, exploiting it fully, to learn its exasperating limits. At that point, collapse to a predefined level - that of the soul - results. Here, a person realizes material limits, merits of the "real world" and pragmatic concerns.

From this data, the calculated ecliptic longitude = 31.78 degrees.

The Sabian symbol for this degree tells us what the Nova is revealing:

Keynote: Only if we accept inner transformation will we transform outer situations

It can be a devastating shock to be exposed to cosmic energies within the constriction of the Earth plane, since the power of true spiritual knowledge simply cannot be fully assimilated into individual consciousness. Yet there is the hope of opening up to these higher forces to some significant degree, and thereby experiencing the revelation of vast possibilities for the expression of our spiritual aspect within a physical context.

Only if we accept inner transformation will we transform outer situations. A person is potentially as awesome as a thunderstorm, but most are too timid even to express unique opinions. This timidity is not a natural state whereas passion equivalent to a thunderstorm is.

Life throws up crises again and again – we can fear them or grasp them. Some people have learned to identify stormy life situations as special and welcome opportunities to stimulate them to rise to the challenges. By embracing these crises as opportunities, we awaken inner forces that enable us to cope, and also actually make us powerful. No challenge ever comes which we cannot answer fully and to our best advantage, and belief in this empowers us very deeply; it is an aspect of faith.

Society has norms of behaviour, partly fearing an individual’s passion and their possibility of upsetting the status quo. We are trained to toe the line; civilisation itself depends upon this. In the extreme it makes us terrified that we will lose aplomb in public so at all costs we must maintain face. This false image allows for the build-up of great tensions, and also distorts our inner sense of self – until perhaps one day we wake up to the fact that we have capitulated and unknowingly given up who we really are in order to seem acceptable.

A raging storm clears the air and allows us to re-centre in truth. When we realign with the authentic pole of our being, we connect once more with our ability fully and uniquely to dramatize our lives – present and future – with flair, so that our core values are undeniable and clearly expressed.
