Minerva - goddess of war
This week, the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations was held on the brink of world war. It should prompt pause and inquiry why an organization formed 79 years ago at the end of World War Two to prevent future wars is such a failure. Unbridled Western imperialism is and always has been at the root of global danger and impotence of the UN. The Second World War defeated specific forms of imperialism – Nazi Germany and Japan. It did not eradicate the disease of imperialism, which soon metastasized in the form of the United States and its Western partners.
A study of the horoscope of the UN[1] can help us understand the problems it has faced so far and the possible way forward. On the Ascendant are two heavy weight TNPs Admetus and Hades.
Asc-Admetus-Hades: the negativity or maliciousness of others are obstacles or hindrances to the achievement of your goals.
Also on the ascendant are the asteroids Circe [20ar] - Minerva [21ar] (both retrograde). Martha Wescott provides the following definitions:
CIRCE: acting as a facilitator
MINERVA: compromising for effect; to attempt to get the vote of approval; retrograde Minerva can manifest as negative experience with regard to the success of pleasing the “father”
(Minerva was the Roman counterpart to Greek goddess Athena. Like Athena, Minerva burst from the head of her father, Jupiter (Greek Zeus) and sacrificed her individuality doing his bidding and was worshipped as a goddess of war).
Weaving together the influence of Admetus-Hades-Circe-Minerva on the Ascendant we begin to see how the UN subservient to the “war god father” (western imperialism) is hindered in its role of a facilitator.
Next we notice that a Mars-Saturn conjunction squares the Ascendant. Mars, ruler of the Ascendant, is weak in Cancer where it is in its fall and more so troubled by Saturn in its detriment. With this combination projects started tend to fall apart and come to nothing.
Mars is your inner warrior. If you have a healthy Mars, you’re able to assert yourself. In its shadow form, Saturn suppresses Mars. Hirokii refers to it as a “father wound”
Growing up with a father wound results in underdeveloped masculinity. Until you get to the root of the father wound, you may feel a sense of weakness or even futility when trying to assert yourself or to accomplish your goals in the world.[2]
The most important current direction is directed Sun [21cp] beginning a T-square to the Ascendant - Mars - Saturn (and of course the TNPs and asteroids discussed above). The astrology program Solar Fire gives the following interpretation:
Directed Sun Square Radix Ascendant
It is time for change. If you have been procrastinating then now you are forced to make decisions. If you have been working towards making changes in selected areas of your life then now the opportunities will arise. The time has come for action. "Talk comes cheap" as the saying goes. You are required to focus on your goals and the pursuit of your own happiness. It can be a rewarding period, although your loved ones may react adversely if you ignore them. You may also need to dig deep and assert your own goals, even if this means challenging those in authority. However, it is best to enlist the co-operation of those around you so that you can move forward with your goals without creating conflict or burning bridges. During this phase you are likely to experience a renewed sense of purpose. Projects that have been brewing for some time may now come to fruition. You may have been reflecting on various areas of your life with a view to making changes. The time is now ripe for those changes. You can purposefully move forward with renewed resolve.
We can now put the pieces together and get to understand what the author of the article above is referring to - a need to get out of the hegemonic control of western imperialism and essentially a massive overhaul in the direction the UN has been going.
