The movie Chhaava and the Aurangzeb controversy

The recent Aurangzeb controversy in India follows a film release centered around the Bollywood movie Chhaava, which portrays the historical conflict between Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Released on February 14, 2025, the film dramatizes Sambhaji’s resistance against Aurangzeb’s forces and includes graphic depictions of his torture and execution, which occurred historically in 1689. This portrayal has reignited debates about Aurangzeb’s legacy. The controversy escalated in March 2025 when protests erupted in Nagpur, Maharashtra, over Aurangzeb’s tomb, located approximately 500 km away in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad). On March 17, 2025, Hindu nationalist groups, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, staged demonstrations demanding the tomb’s demolition, burning effigies of Aurangzeb and citing his historical "atrocities" against Hindus as justification.

Public sentiment varies widely. Some users blame the film and political rhetoric for inciting violence, accusing the government of promoting an “inflammatory” narrative, while others argue that outrage over Aurangzeb, a figure from over 300 years ago, distracts from pressing modern issues. Historians like Audrey Truschke note that Aurangzeb’s legacy is complex—he supported some Hindu temples and employed Hindus in his administration—yet his actions against certain communities fuel ongoing vilification, often exploited for contemporary political gain.

We will first look at the chart for the March total lunar eclipse which was discussed in a previous blog [1].

The eclipse Moon along with the South Node (patterns of behaviour we need to outgrow) is conjunct the stars Denebola, Alkes, Benatnash and Zavijava.

Denebola, Benatnash and Zavijava, embody the diversionary tactics, usually of a grandiose scale and glamorous facade, a front large enough to draw attention away from what is really going on by making the masses believe the staged show is what is of extreme importance and of real issue hiding corruption at the highest of levels ...Zavijava is of a passive and submissive character, articulating the blind and naïve followers of the Benatnasch directive--those who are swayed by the diversionary dramatics of their manipulative leaders and believe in the miss-information they are being fed.

Next we turn to the chart for the Capricorn ingress of the Sun just prior to Aurangzeb’s death to show its relevance both to his death and the current controversy.

Notice that a powerful T-square aligns with the meridian. The elements of the T-square are :

Mars-Saturn-Pluto-Jupiter-Kronos-Hades...currently triggered by transit Uranus on the IC.

Mars-Saturn-Pluto: Brutality; the rage and fury of destruction. (with Jupiter) .. religious fanaticism (Ebertin)

Kronos-Hades: Famous historical figure (Martha Wescott)

This chart can serve as a good example of how a nearly 300 year old chart responds perfectly to the solar arc progression method and transits. Directed solar arc Sun currently at  [12sc] is square radix asteroids Tisiphone [13aq] - Eos [12aq] significantly placed on the chart Ascendant [16aq]. Martha Wescott interprets the combination as:

Eos/Tisiphone

Sometimes, in an effort to have revenge or "make things fair," there is unintended harm done.

PS:

A mundane horoscope that is relevant to an event will often bring significant planetary combinations to the angles when progressed to the date of the event. The Capricorn Ingress chart of 22 Dec 1706 when progressed to 3 March 1707, the date of Aurangzeb’s death brings the Mars-Saturn-Pluto-Jupiter-Kronos-Hades T-square originally aligned with the meridian to the horizon axis.
