Olympe de Gouges (7 May 1748 – 3 November 1793) was a French playwright and political activist. She is best known for her Declaration of the Rights of Woman and of the Female Citizen and other writings on women's rights and abolitionism.
In 1791, the feminist movement began to take shape as part of broader Enlightenment ideas about individual rights and equality. The key spark was Olympe de Gouges’ publication of the Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen in France, a direct response to the 1789 Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. De Gouges argued that women, like men, were entitled to natural rights—liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression. She demanded equal participation in political and social spheres, challenging the exclusion of women from the French Revolution’s reforms.
The movement’s origins in 1791 were rooted in revolutionary fervor but faced fierce resistance. De Gouges was executed in 1793. Despite this, her ideas seeded modern feminism, emphasizing legal equality and women’s agency. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympe_de_Gouges
A powerful Sun-Uranus-Nodes square in Olympe de Gouges’ horoscope marks her out as reformist and freedom loving personality. Her radix Sun [17ta] is conjunct Sedna’s discovery position at [17ta] evoking the legend of Sedna and the re-emergence of feminine principles in a world long dominated by patriarchal values.
At her discovery on 14 November 2003, Sedna was south of the ecliptic in Cetus, just past the jaws of the sea monster Cetus (Menkar) in late sidereal Aries, as if just emerging from Cetus' mouth. Menkar marks the jaws of Cetus. North of the ecliptic and conjoining Menkar is Almach the foot of princess Andromeda. The constellation Andromeda, nicknamed “the Chained Lady,” has inspired feminist discussions about breaking free from metaphorical chains—whether societal, cultural, or economic. The imagery of a chained woman resonates with themes of liberation central to feminism. The discovery chart of Sedna has the Sun conjunct the fixed star Unukulhai (quarrels, exile, unhappy life) opposite the Node and TNP Admetus (frozen, cold, symbolically withdrawn) square the Centaur Asbolus (total helplessness, desolate)
In the period of the publication of her work Declaration of the Rights of Woman and of the Female Citizen till her death (1791-93) transiting Uranus and Pluto - a combination linked to freedom, revolutions and social reform - were in opposition aspect.
We are now entering a period when Uranus [0ge] and Pluto [1aq] will form a harmonius trine with Uranus conjunct Sedna[0ge]. A Uranus trine Pluto transit, occurring between summer 2025 and summer 2030, signifies a period of heightened insight, change, and the exploration of profound life questions. It allows for constructive shifts without undue turmoil, emphasizing the need to delve deeper into oneself and understand one's place in the universe. This transit also suggests seeking guidance, potentially through psychotherapy or other forms of consciousness expansion. Knowing that Sedna will be part of the Uranus-Pluto trine, we can look forward to a period when society accepts the need to free the feminine so that human evoultion can progress rapidly.
It seems likely this alignment could bring sudden psychological insights to help uncover repressed or hidden issues, especially through communication or learning with possible unexpected assistance in addressing deep psychological wounds, potentially from mentors or new tools. Sedna and Uranus will be conjunct the star Mirfak, which means " he who helps". There may be a sense of empowerment in facing fears, akin to the heroic themes of Perseus, Mirfak's constellation. The Perseus myth, in which Mirfak resides, involves heroism and overcoming terrifying challenges, such as facing Medusa. Sedna's influence may bring to light deep-seated, repressed memories or patterns, while Uranus's suddenness could trigger these revelations unexpectedly.
