...such a shift of economic model has profound consequences: It undercuts the entirety of the transactional ‘Art of the Deal’ mode of diplomacy on which Trump relies. It exposes the transactional weaknesses. ‘Your enticement of the lifting of sanctions, plus the other inducements of western investment and technology, now mean nothing’ – for we will accept these things henceforth: on our terms only’, Putin said. ‘Nor’, he argued, ‘do your threats of a further sanctions siege carry weight – for your sanctions were the boon that took us to our new economic model’.
In other words, be it Ukraine, or relations with China and Iran, Russia can be largely impervious (short of the mutually destructive threat of WWIII) to U.S. blandishments.
Regular readers will be familiar with synastry. Presented below is the synastry between (a) Trump’s prog Asc and Russia’s radix (b) Trump’s directed Sun and Putin’s radix
Trump’s dir. Asc [15sc] ----> Russia's Juno - Admetus - Apollo
Be alert for exchanges where someone "keeps trying" and another either avoids them or seems unmoved by their efforts.
Trump’s dir. Sun [8vi] -------> in hard aspect to Putin’s Lach [8ge] - Amor [8ge] - Kass [9vi] - Elatus [10vi]
Amor: Boundaries
Kassandra: Not believing another
Lachesis: Change or interruption in unfolding sequence
Elatus: Projects or deals that are not well thought out
Combining the above asteroids we have:
Trump may want an interruption in the ongoing Ukraine war (ceasefire) but Putin is not willing to let his guard down (Amor) because he cannot believe (Kassandra) Trump’s plans stuck together with "duct tape" (Elatus).
Trump’s transactional approach in dealing with Russia —essentially a strategy rooted in negotiation, quid pro quo, and pragmatic exchanges—has several notable weaknesses. It doesn’t hold true in high-stakes conflicts. Russia does not share the same values, goals, making transactions unstable or outright impossible. Since Russia and the US view each other as an existential threat, no amount of bargaining can create trust. Another flaw is its short-term focus. Transactional deals prioritize immediate gains—say, a ceasefire or resource exchange—over long-term stability. Besides, if you’re constantly cutting deals, you might look like you’re afraid to confront the problem head-on. Putin can take his sweet time on Ukraine and consider other issues on a strictly cost-benefit analysis. He can see that Trump. has no real leverage.
Finally here is the Davison Relationship Chart (DRC) for Russia and the US Sibly. The March 29 solar eclipse fell on the DRC’s radix Sun-Dionysus-Kronos and was crucially placed on the Ascendant at Washington DC.
Sun - Dionysus - Kronos
Power and authority can be an addiction that keeps people in denial or immaturity.
In the DRC the eclipse is conjunct the Hades/Pluto midpoint.
For Hades-Pluto Martha Wescott delineates:
Hades-Pluto: (-) to see that superficial changes can bring a decline; perhaps a decline through someone’s compulsive-obsessive behavior; (+) to recognize that the solution is a catharsis which requires a return to the past and confrontation with history.
This is what Russia wants-- to go back to the roots of the problem begun by NATO after WWII when it promised not to move its influence an inch eastward but did just that.
