Germany’s economic decline is becoming “dramatic” following years of flatlining GDP and failed attempts to reverse the situation, the head of the Munich-based ifo Institute, one of Europe’s leading economic think tanks, has warned.

When analysing progressions for a radix chart, the directed solar arc Sun is the top contender for our attention. It is so important that we must allow a 2.5 degree orb of influence. Germany’s mundane horoscope has Mars at 17° Taurus 37' and 420356 Praamzius at 17° Taurus 42', both tightly conjunct the IC at 17° Taurus 00', and square natal Pluto at 14° Leo 19'. The progressed Sun at 15° Leo 26' (as of October 27, 2025) is activating this configuration by conjoining Pluto and squaring the Mars-Praamzius-IC complex.
IC [17ta00] - Mars[17ta 38] - Praamzius [17ta42'] - Pluto [14le19]
Astrologers view Praamzius as a "fated" influence, blending leadership with potential pitfalls like arrogance or a sense of inescapable doom (see Ruchbah or Rucha below)
IC at 17° Taurus: The IC represents the nation’s roots, land, and economic foundation. A Taurus IC underscores Germany’s historical reliance on stable, tangible assets (e.g., automotive, manufacturing sectors). The exact conjunction of Mars and Praamzius to the IC (within 0°42') makes this a focal point of the chart, indicating that economic stability is central to Germany’s identity but also a potential vulnerability when challenged by change.
Pluto in Leo, in the 7th signifies transformative power dynamics in partnerships, trade, or shared resources. The square to Mars-Praamzius-IC (2°–3° orb) creates tension between internal economic policies and external pressures, often manifesting as power struggles, crises, or hidden issues (e.g., debt, trade deficits, or geopolitical fallout).
The progressed Sun, conjunct natal Pluto and squaring the Mars-Praamzius-IC configuration, acts as a trigger. In Leo, the Sun represents national vitality, leadership, and identity. Its conjunction with Pluto (within 1° orb) signals a transformative crisis, exposing hidden weaknesses or forcing a reckoning with systemic issues. The square to Mars-Praamzius-IC (2°–3° orb) suggests conflict between Germany’s self-image as a global economic leader and its struggling economic foundation, with Praamzius emphasizing an inescapable, fated quality to the challenges.
The Leo-Taurus square, activated by the progressed Sun, reflects a clash between Germany’s self-image as an economic powerhouse (Leo) and the reality of its struggling foundations (Taurus). Leadership may resist admitting failure (Pluto’s shadow) or cling to outdated models (Mars-Praamzius rigidity), delaying reforms. Pluto in the 7th house suggests external pressures—strained EU relations, trade disruptions, or geopolitical consequences (e.g., post-2022 sanctions)—exacerbating the crisis. The “dramatic” decline aligns with Pluto’s transformative intensity and Leo’s visibility.
Mars and Praamzius on the IC are conjunct the star Ruchbah about which Nick Fiorenza writes:
Ruchbah (Rucha) delta Cassiopeia, on the knee of Queen Cassiopeia, is a star of transformation—a process often occurring in a bit of initiatory fire. It imparts the need for transformation of our attitudes. Our righteous attitudes keep us naïve to, and thus entrapped in, a diversionary lower-order resonance that trips us up, perpetuates repetitive scenarios, and keep us from claiming our greater fulfillment in life. Ruchbah imparts the need to surrender the righteous attitudes we hold in order to have that which we truly deserve.
Note:
(1) In Greek mythology, Cassiopeia, queen of Ethiopia, was deemed arrogant due to her boastful pride. She claimed her beauty, or that of her daughter Andromeda, surpassed the Nereids, sea nymphs renowned for their allure. This hubris offended Poseidon, god of the sea, who unleashed a sea monster, Cetus, on Ethiopia’s coast as punishment. To appease him, Cassiopeia and her husband, Cepheus, chained Andromeda as a sacrifice, though she was later saved by Perseus. Cassiopeia’s vanity and defiance against divine powers cemented her reputation as an arrogant queen, leading to her eternal placement in the sky as a constellation, often depicted upside-down as a reminder of her hubris.
(2) Germany’s dramatic economic collapse is dragging its geopolitical standing down with it. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has now learned what it means to be treated as a second-tier diplomat, receiving the red card from Beijing. A humiliation and a reprimand for Germany.
